Anyone from San Francisco?

Just took a job as a mainstream software engineer for a well known company in san francisco. Going to be moving to the city three weeks, and need to start looking for a place asap... what are the good places to live? Anything I should know before moving there? The only time I've ever been there was for my interview and didnt get to see too much.

Born there . . . would never live there. Great place to visit though.

Good luck. Ask Jack, he's there.

get a place relatively close to a bart station so that you can ride the train to work (assuming your gig is downtown)

Yeah, but Boston is realllllllllllly cold this time of year. Anything short of the north pole is looking good.

It really depends on what you can afford...

San Francisco has many very cool, funky, neighborhoods.

Your new employer should be able to give you some good leads.

Since you are new to the area, I would suggest that you not take a long-term lease, but instead get acclimated and explore before finally settling down.

There are lots of similarities between Beantown and Baghdad by the Bay, so I think you will soon feel quite at home here.

If you are into the arts, food, and entertainment, you will be happy in San Francisco.

Yeah the Potrero and Mission neighborhoods were recommended to me due to the proximity to the office. I'm only looking to spend $1200 a month or so to start, so I'm most likely going to end up with roonmates.

Because he endured a bunch of shit, some his fault, mostly not his fault.

If anyone that knows, knows. Jack has contemplated many times coming back but dosnt seem to bring himself to it. Anytime he does, someone like lazycash is there to rehash to old bullshit.

Jack is no longer in adult. But doing well.

Nope, their office is right around the corner though.

DaddyHalbucks 12-21-2009 11:13 PM

It's expensive.

XPays 12-22-2009 12:02 AM

you can find a nice 1 bedroom in the mission district for $1200. craigslist is very popular here for listing apt's.

I miss 2HP (assuming this is the Jack you are speaking of). He seemed to have a pretty good head on his shoulders, and often delivered very good advice.

Yep he is. In a pretty nice apartment too... hell of a view.

Here's a pic taken from his roof in North Beach.
