Mobile tracking with AT commands, alternative to GPS?
So I know that phone companies can track a phone by the distance between it and it's antennas, I think some phones use this as an alternative to GPS. I started playing with telit GSM modems and was curious if there were AT commands I can use on it that I can pull the signals from different antennas so I can develop my own software to track it. Make sense? By the way I know this isn't dead on accuracy, more like multi football field accuracy but it is fine for my application.

It's way to hard to get that tower list for Cell triangulation. You can also use google gears but it's not that accurate and needs to me installed on the phone. Same goes with the rest of the phones, a small app needs to be installed.
So why build you ow if you gonna have to install it anyway. For windows mobile this is what I use. http://remotetracker.sourceforge.net/manual.html :thumbsup |
Well I am learning to communicate with my cell phone using AT commands so I figure the software google uses or even remote tracker, get's data from using AT commands to receive back the tower signals, just need to know what commands to look into.
