The most expensive one you'll be able to afford is Lord Calvert, so get that.

I always was told brandy was the cure for a bad chest cold.

I have some apricot brandy in the house for those occasions. Pretty decent liquor to have around, mixes well.

comeplay 12-13-2009 09:31 PM

Yep Crown Royal :thumbsup

You wanna make a hot totty. The recipe requires Scottish whiskey or you can substitute tequila. Here's the recipe http://www.ehow.com/how_2138552_hot-totty.html

digifan 12-14-2009 02:35 AM

Glenfiddich 21 year old is an exceptional single malt whisky. This Speyside Scotch is finished for four months in Caribbean rum barrels.

Marialovesporn 12-14-2009 03:33 AM

Jack Daniels and Johnnie Walker are good ones!

notime 12-14-2009 07:01 AM

Johnnie Walker Blue label I like best. I have a small glass each year on my birthday.

This one I zipped once on a wiskey tradeshow ("the Wiskey that cannot be named" it's called). Too expensive to buy but was great to zip it once just to know what it tastes like.

fuzebox 12-14-2009 07:49 AM

This thread should really be more specific, considering what a huge range "Whiskey" covers...

The scotch I swear by though is Macallan, never liked the flavor of Johnny Walker (even blue).

jollyperv 12-14-2009 07:54 AM

Makers is the best, followed by Jameson

Actual Mike 12-14-2009 08:01 AM

Sortilege Maple Whisky, hands down.

White Horse or Sandy Mac :thumbsup

alexchechs 12-14-2009 09:41 AM

My go to drink... Makers Mark on the rocks. A step above is Basil Hayden... well worth the extra buck a drink. But the best is Hudson Valley. Their four grain bourbon is amazing...

CosmicTang 12-14-2009 10:48 AM

Okay, correct me if I'm wrong Alex, but isn't bourbon from Bourbon County Kentucky? NY bourbon?

munki 12-14-2009 10:51 AM

Jameson, Rocks, with a twist FTW

Good choice but it's a little watered down for my tastes. I prefer the 100 proof Silver Select Single Barrel.

For some reason Whisky is huge in my country. Apparently its the sixth biggest market for whisky in the world.
I've never had whisky to treat a cold (venezuelan rum might be better at that) but my favorites are Johnny Walker Black Label (or gold label) and Buchannans 12. I think those two are the best without breaking your wallet of course.

Everytime I go out with someone not from Venezuela they are amazed at how we consume whisky here hehe... Always with water or soda or on the rocks. Never with coke or any other kind of soft drink like a friend from Chile and Spain does....ugh

cgiGeek 12-14-2009 12:32 PM

http://i215.photobucket.com/albums/c...8/buchanas.jpg

is probably one of the two best (quality/price)

saucygirl 12-14-2009 12:56 PM

I don't think it matters much what you put into a hot toddy as long as it's potent. I would stay away from the expensive stuff since you're not having a party on hot toddy's. Any brandy or whiskey should do the trick. I used ZICAM tablets and they made my cold last only a couple of days, which was pretty awesome (stay away from the nasal swabs).

MaDalton 12-14-2009 01:10 PM

lol @ everyone who suggests Whiskey for 50 or 100 bucks per bottle that will end up in the microwave

KILL_FRENZY 12-14-2009 01:22 PM

Forget the drink. Just take your medicine once every 8 hours. Even aspirin will do. It'll pass in 1-2 days.
