I bought mine from this no name company. Normally I would never consider doing this sort of thing but I have a good friend who has had the same model laptop for 6 months and loves it.

Dell is a good company, but good luck getting your laptop faster than 2 weeks. I got mine in 5 days, I actually wanted a dell but they only use mobile processors up to 2.2ghz and I couldn't find an option for a gig of ram.

MTech Laptops

my specs for my Mtech 5600

P4 2.8 533mhz FSB
1024mb ram
60gb hd
cd/rw & dvd combo drive
15" screen.
ATI 9000 mobile video card

I chose no o/s or tech support and it came out to about $2200. They use desktop processors so the battery lasts about an hour but this bitch is quick. It's going to be my mobile content processing and video editing machine while i'm traveling around the country during the first quarter of 2003.

How often are you away from a power supply? Hotels, airplanes, I even have a power inverter installed in my expedition.

:2 cents:

It is in Australia but the USD = AUD conversion rate should give you a tasty deal.
