I don't think I have met one person with the Swine Flu and I live in a VERY populated area.

Here the teachers are sending kids home with any kind of flu and they have to write it down as a "possible H1N1 case". That might be inflating numbers a bit.

They are diagnosing people without even testing them, and calling it swine flu. I've had several family members that they said had swine flu and DID NOT TEST them for it. Swine flu has sickened about 50 million Americans, and killed about 10,000, according to new estimates released by federal health officials on Thursday.

That means about 1 in 6 Americans have had the illness, said Dr. Thomas Frieden, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The estimates are for the first seven months of the pandemic, from April through mid-November. The new numbers are a big jump from previous estimates, which said swine flu had sickened 22 million Americans and killed about 4,000 through mid-October.

Most of the increase is due to cases that occurred after early October, when the country saw the peak of a second wave of illness, CDC officials said.

The CDC also estimates that nearly 200,000 people were hospitalized through mid-November -- about the same amount that occurs normally in an entire winter flu season.

While the elderly account for most of the hospitalizations and deaths from seasonal flu, the largest proportion of reported swine flu hospitalizations and deaths are in non-elderly adults, CDC officials said.

Try looking up "common sense". Ask everyone you know that has had the "swine flu" whether they were given any sort of actual test to see if they had it, or if they were just "diagnosed" with it without any testing and get back to me. I've spoken to 6 people 3 of which are family members and none were tested, they were just told they had the swine flu. Gee what symptoms are different between the two flus? :1orglaugh

Based upon asking six people who "claim" they were not tested and fifty million that is being reported by the CDC...I can see how your "common sense" prevails...but my common sense tells me that the CDC knows more about how many have had the H1N1 flu at this point in time than you or your six people do.

BTW...I do not personally know anyone that has any type of flu this year. I know a couple of people that thought they may have had a one day flu...but I personally doubt they had a flu.

He is an idiot. I took my daughter to the doctor because she wasn't feeling well and wanted to make sure she didn't have the oh so dreaded swine flu. I had a very interesting conversation with the doctor. He told me that every person coming in complaining of flu like symptoms were automatically assumed to have the swine flu to save on having to do a test on every patient and that they STILL report those numbers.

Guess I should clarify, that last part doesn't seem real clear.

They reported those numbers as cases of swine flu without using the tests. So if 100 people came into his office reporting of flu like symptoms or using the words "swine flu" they treated them as having swine flu no matter what. Therefore if they HAD run the tests they might have found that less than half of those people actually had the swine flu and would NOT have reported an extra 50 or more people that really didn't have it.

I think it is things like these that are blowing the numbers up and making it look worse than it is.
