Server Wizards, Moving Customer, Horror Story

So we have this new customer who ordered a dedicated server with us and asked us to move all his websites without downtime etc to his brand new server. No problem ofcourse as we are happy to help out and move websites.

He is currently hosting at Server Wizards -> www.serverwizards.com where he should have his own dedicated server. I hardly doubt he really got his own server as almost all features are disabled or limited (SSH, tons of WHM/Cpanel options etc etc)

First of all Server Wizards refused to give their customer root access or even SSH access to his current box. I have seen about 10 tickets from the customer asking for it but they simply ignore the tickets.

As there are other ways to move stuff we tried a different approach, however during the transfer we suddenly couldn't connect to the server anymore, they blocked our IP from where we were moving the customer's websites. I can't even ping the IP anymore lol.

I tried from a different computer here at the office and that IP works fine. So the customer opens a few new tickets to ask if they can unblock our ips, they replied they would never block an IP and that is should be a problem on our end. Tried to start moving the customer's data again from a different ip, 5 minutes later IP is also blocked.

Tried to login to WHM from again a different computer and used the full backup option in WHM/Cpanel however they also disabled that option it seems.

Now we are moving sites by FTP the old-fashion way but I just wanted to check if other people out here are using them or maybe they are present at this board.

I will never be the person who will flame at other people however this is something I have never seen in the past 7 years.

ServerWizards from what I recall are a well known mainstream to-be-want-tobe big managed hosting company that will only manage cpanel, like many counterparts found on WHT.

We were in the same boat a year or so ago. It was a nightmare.

When Amerinoc/phatservers moved my oldest sites from my really old host, the blocked IPs above were a tideous problem. My old host finally answered a ticket and said that Amerinoc had "opened to many connections". I felt sorry for the woundeful guys at Amerinoc who had to deal with the old host and all the problems.

Now, there's no one moving me out of there! :)
