I love a log fire {hot pix}
When I bought my house, it had to have two things. A fire place, and a finished basement.
I had delivered a couple of weeks ago 2 face cords of mixed hard wood; White oak, black oak, maple, and what I think is copper beech. Had a roarer tonight, as the family all have colds. http://photos-b.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos..._4745161_n.jpg |
I could really go for one right now...

Nothing beats a book, whiskey and a good fire.

I miss having a log fire in my new place, the last place i had we had a log fire as well as an aga which did all the heating/hot water for the house. I dont miss chopping wood and pciking up coal sacks everyday tho

I have my AC on :)

Our house had a fireplace in the sitting room next to the kitchen then a wood stove down in the basement. I used the fireplace maybe twice but it sucks since all of the hot air goes right up and out. The wood stove on the other hand heats up like crazy and can heat most of the house except the 4th level bedrooms. We have zoned heating/ac too but with the wood stove, we generally don't have to run it :)

looks real nice, a place round here burnt out recent when one of the logs rolled off the fire!
|
I miss my fireplace :( My new place doesn’t have one.
