If it wasn't for the advertisers this board wouldn't be here, and some people take the piss.

Maybe a rotating sticky post with advertisers laying out what they offer etc.
Or non advertisers having to use a certain icon so it's flagged as a spam post and only being allowed 1 a month. * any thoer posts not flagged with the correct icon get deleted*
Or even advertisers posts being bolded or a different color so they stand out.


Is there even a list of advertisers so we can see who's on it.

Different story but same result... in the end, decisions involving the advertising on this forum will not change most people's decision to stay or leave... it'll just give them more (or less) to complain about.

The reason many people come here is to find out what's going on.

If you only allow advertisers to post their announcements/spam in the main forum and everyone else gets tossed into the spam folder, what "news" and "announcements" are we really getting?

The ones from the people paying the most money.

I get that GFY is a business but this would disrupt the way business is done around here and if they think that's smart.. well.. go for it. I think its a mistake.

Many left based upon that absurd advertiser decision, and I for one, did not post throughout that period, as a protest.

If you further fuck with this board, by dividing it up between those who can afford to advertise, and those who don't, then MOST of the people here will simply find and/or start other boards.

The little guys are often the people who join the bigger guys affiliate programs for example.

The little guys are often the people who offer design work for the bigger guys.

Surfers sometimes visit the sites announced here on GFY, and occassionally join sites.

The list goes on.

Split up the board, and watch it die.

That decision would be even stupider than the idea of skinning the board with thieves.

No one every truly leaves GFY.

there should be a new site announcement forum. i'd actually find that useful.

me? probably I'd visit GFY anyway, I make like 1 "announcement" every 5 years, lol. However, I understand a community is made of people. And people around here uses to have real businesses (well, sorta). If small guys can't post their announcements, they will go somewhere else where they're allowed to. Maybe still visiting GFY, but sooner or later they'll go away for good. And GFY would look "clean": only "would you hit it" threads and contest whores, plus a pinch of "broism" for the big programs. So I'm with the majority here, voted the 2nd option. 3rd and 4th looks simply nonsensical IMHO
