I am in need of some technical help! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

OK, here is my dilemma.
First, I am using ACDsee Pro2.5 for my photo editing program and I have never run into this problem prior to today.

I started a thread today fucking-around-and-business-discussion/939920-ran-visitors-mine-weekend-pics.html with a description of the pics that were posted in that thread. The problem I am having is that I can not see the images I posted while others can see them and some see red x?s.

If you view the page source in IE, it shows the URL link has an extra forward slash (3) instead of (2). If you view the page source in FF, which is what I use, you see (2) forward slashes in the URL link.

I went to another board and tried to perform the same upload from my URL and got the same results. I then tried the function ?Manage Attachments? on that board, loading them directly from my system where the images are in the respective folder and the images show up on that board.

Does anyone have any idea what is going on and how I can correct this?

It seems loading anything from the URL on my server does not show, but loading them from my system (workstation) shows.

I would appreciate any input to this problem...thanks so much.

It works here, try a different browser it is probably cached. Or your ISP DNS is a little fucked up.

I tried IE on my wife's system and it shows red x's. I use FF and it doesn't show anything...no red x's, just blank spots under the titles.

I would like to know what other browsers people are using that are seeing the images on this board.

I have a feeling it has something to do the my ACDSee, but am not sure.

Thanks for your reply, I appreciate it :thumbsup

I looked at the thread and I got red x's. IE8. I checked the links and they had three slashes after the http: (http:///). I grabbed the url and pasted it into a browser and corrected it and the url worked fine.

I then went in using FF 3.XX and the pics showed in the threads, looked at properties and the urls looked ok, Then I looked at the page source and the 3 slashes were there.

Looks to me simply like you got it screwed up the first time and the edit you did didn't take and firefox is doing you the favor of correcting the urls for some reason.

just me :2 cents:

Yep, when I first posted the thread and sent a friend the link they pointed out the 3 forward slashes. I immediately went to edit and corrected it, hit save, but the lag time for it to be corrected may have passed or at least I thought.

I waited a bit and checked the thread once more only to see blank images again. I then tried to reply with the corrections, clicked preview and still came up with the blank images.
I even pasted the corrected URL in my browser and the images show.

I have tried to post other images from a URL that I have posted in the past and get the same results. At this point, I am lost and my remove ACDSee and re install it again.
I say this because if I upload anything from ACDSee to the server, it will not show up when posted, but if I upload from a folder on my system, the images appear or if I paste the URL in my browser the image appears.....crazy I tell ya.....

Thanks for checking it out and shooting me your input. I do appreciate it!

Only problem with that is I fail to see how the method you used to get something to the server affects the url that you create in a post. What am I missing?

I am as confused as you how this could affect my images not showing up and I am grasping at anything to trouble shoot this situation. I may have not been describing my issue clearly with correct terminology so let me try again ;)

On some boards they give 2 choices for posting images......
Lets say I have 2 choices to perform this action and I click on "Manage Attachments" , I then have a choice of uploading images from my "compute" or upload a file from a "given URL".

If I try to upload from a given URL the images will not show up (This is happening on every board I tried posting them on), but if I upload images from my computer the images show up. And If I copy paste the given URL (link to my images) into my browser, the image will appear.

I have cleared my cache, checked my URL where the images are....all seems fine and still seem to be having the same problem. I may just uninstall ACDSee and re install it. I don't know if this is the problem as I have never encountered this issue before.
