What do you look for in a Hosting Provider?
Happy Friday everyone!
Looking for input on what qualities the majority are looking for in their hosting providers? What's important to you, and who do you host with? Thanks :) |
uptime - support - price - speed

I host with National Net. I've hosted with others and dealt with even more hosts, and none comes close to the level of support National Net gives.
The true test of a hosting company is after hours support. Call your host at 2am their time and see if they pick up. Most don't. National Net always does, fully staffed twenty-four hours a day. Their number is 678-247-7000; Call them at 2am EST and see if they pick up. Everyone says "National Net is too expensive". Right now they have their deal where they'll match your current hosting price. Can't beat that. |
Thanks for the input halfpint, XD2, and Rochard - much appreciate it :)
More opinions and recommendations are welcome - keep them coming. What makes for acceptable downtime levels (I know I know...never LOL)? What do you expect from support? Etc...? :) |
I have to reiterate what Rochard said! :thumbsup:thumbsup

I look for Uptime, speed, Support and price. This is why i host all my bigger more important ,aney making projects with the team at www.techiemedia.com No downtimes, a fantastic (fast) network, competitive pricing and most of all their support is 2nd to none and blows all others i've ever used away.:2 cents::2 cents::thumbsup

24/7 LIVE support service.
The crazy boy recommends webair btw, been hosting with them for 5 years:thumbsup |
High quality support 24/7 and a smart crew that knows what they are doing
|
Direct contact with upper management and for them to always be close to a phone.
|
I believe UPTIME, Support are the most important, then decent pricing would be the last thing i look for. I moved to Techiemedia over 1 year ago after trying a few of the so called "best" hosts with the best support, and after i moved to techie I realized there really is a difference. The uptime here has been 100% and the support simply is far superior to any other I've tried.:2 cents::2 cents:

Hope everyone had a terrific weekend. A big thanks to all of you that have posted for your input and the recommendations :)

All very good information for sure but one little thing I would recommend is to always know the direct phone number to the host you choose. Everyone always wants to know the 800# because it is free but in ten years I have seen many people loose their hosting and then when they tried to contact the host they had chosen they discovered the first thing disconnected was the host's 800#.

being able to reach a tech 24/7 is a must but your research shouldn't stop there, is the tech just a half ass tech and will tell you for things that are serious to wait till the morning or is he someone just as good as the day shift.
after years and years of hosting all over the fucking place I learned that even the best hosts will have downtime, the question is how do they deal with it, are they reachable, are they giving updates. Techs that care matter too, techs that understand and respect a clients business. Some of these guys really dont understand that slow hosting = no hosting and an outage will result is the loss of members, affiliates and many other things. |
