How many times have you listened to Stairway To Heaven?

In your entire life? I am listening right now, BTW.

Too many times to count.

barelist 11-19-2009 10:05 PM

One of those songs you have probably heard hundreds of times without even knowing...

But hey:
C:\Mp3\Led Zeppelin\Led Zeppelin - BBC Sessions Disc2 - 06 - Stairway To Heaven.mp3

justinsain 11-19-2009 10:10 PM

It was my high school class song :thumbsup

PenisFace 11-19-2009 10:11 PM

I've listened to it maybe ten times total. It starts great but drags on imo. I can play it on my guitar though, so I guess I've heard it a hell of alot more than 10 times... At least the guitar part anyway.

I prefer Slayer over Zepplin.

\M/

Edit:

Sickening ways to achive... The holocaust!

Edit again: Listen to it while watching my avatar man run, its beautiful

Are you listening by choice?

I got satellite radio so I could avoid hearing it again. Once every ten years is fine, but when a radio station plays it like it just came out last week, I want to strangle a motherfucker when I hear it.

I feel the same way about anything by Pink Floyd. And RE: Slayer, I'd rank them last of the thrash metal fab four - behind Metallica, Megadeath, and Pantera, and MILES behind Zeppelin. All that 'Praise Satan' shit gets old fast.

Early metallica was great, new metallica sucks shit. Slayer's great because they're the heaviest. Megadeath isn't heavy enough, but they were still rad when I saw them live. Mustaine plays a guitar better than anyone I've ever seen live.

Zepplin is overrated :D

Spunky 11-19-2009 10:40 PM

I grew up with the song, probably 250 times or more

That's your problem. Your brain is programmed one way - harder, faster, louder. You metal heads are all the same - anything that doesn't have blast beats sucks. You people are the most closed-minded, uncreative bunch of posers of all music fans. Lemme guess -- you have piercings AND tats. Am I right?

Zeppelin was EXTREMELY creative and unique and had a huge influence. They have sold a ton more records that Slayer and have a ton more fans. Slayer bores me after two songs. How many songs can you write about fucking serial killers and the devil anyway?

I like metal, but I like everything else too, including country, hip hop, and classical music.

I've played the album maybe a hundred times, heard it on the radio hundreds more times, and played it on guitar at least a thousand times...but it's not my favorite Zep song by far...

My favorite Led Zeppelin songs would include:

Since I've Been Lovin' You (LZ3) - best blues song ever

Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You (LZ1) - fun to play on either acoustic or electric guitar

Kashmir (Physical Graffiti) - epic song - I get goose bumps every time I hear this song

All My Love (In Through The Out Door) - very sad Robert Plant song written in tribute to his five year old son who died

The Rain Song (Houses of the Holy) - beautiful melancholic ballad

Dazed and Confused (LZ1) - one of the best stoner songs of all time

Heartbreaker (LZ2) - heavy metal classic

Rock n' Roll (LZ4) - right up there with It's Only Rock n' Roll as best rock anthem ever

No Quarter (Houses of the Holy) - another great stoner classic, my eyes get red just listening to it

Whole Lotta Love (LZ2) - I used to play this song all the time when I played in bands

Immigrant Song (LZ3) - love the staccato minor chords in this one

Trampled Underfoot (PG) - hard-driving song, fun to change up the tempo on acoustic guitar

The Battle of Evermore (LZ4) - the song that inspired me to learn to play the mandolin

Going to California (LZ4) - whenever I travel, and especially when I come home (to California) I love to hear this song

Dancing Days (Houses of the Holy) - I needed this song at the time (around the time of my first big break-up)

Tea for One (Presence) - a slight reprise of since i've been loving you - ballsy blues

Achilles Last Stand (Presence) - another good epic from an otherwise forgettable album

In The Evening (In Through The Out Door) - Zep's swan song (pun intended - LZ's label was Swan Song)

Stairway to Heaven (LZ4) - see above

ADG

Hate it almost as much as Pink Floyd and M*A*S*H. That's how many fucking times I've heard it.

Nicky 11-20-2009 02:37 AM

I'd like to add D'YER MAK'ER to your list above ADG :-)

Radio always plays darkerside of the moon, usually money or time.
Wish you were here, shine on you crazy diamond or the wall.

early floyd is different.

CaptainHowdy 11-20-2009 05:55 AM

I never get tired of the "How The West Was Won" version... :bowdown!

escorpio 11-20-2009 06:23 AM

I don't know, but it's easily the song I've heard the most. If you grew up in the 70's and listened to FM radio you heard it once a day, at least.
