Send googlebot hits to advertisers?
 

I have a site that's being hit about once every 60 seconds by googlebot.

Is it right to send these hits to an advertiser that is paying me per click sent to them? I'm not doing that right now, but maybe I should.

Would you, as an advertiser, like to get those hits, or not?

You cant be serious...

Sending bot hits would mean that the advertiser's site gets spidered / visited (a hardlink) - otherwise the link wouldn't get displayed or the forward would be cutoff.

Technically any sold ad links should be marked as 'nofollow' so that benefit wouldn't exist anyway...

That would have been the only benefit I could see from that, but these days it doesn't take much to get indexed, so I would imagine most sites buying traffic from him have been indexed.

I know I wouldn't want that if I was paying. Unless there's some other benefit I'm not aware of.

Yeah...I wouldn't go as far as to say this. Ravo has been around for quite some time and lots of us has purchased from him over the years.

Like I said, I am *not* doing this right now, just trying to get a feeling for what the community thought of it. And, you guys have spoken loud and clear.

I'm not an SE guru, so I thought that there might be some benefit to google spidering your site; obviously most don't think so.

To CunningStunt: Sorry you've had some bad experiences with traffic sellers. I don't claim to be perfect, but at least I try to be honest about what I'm selling, and what its appropriate use is. I sell real traffic to real buyers, who come back and buy from me for years. I've got nothing to hide.
