How many of you quit smoking and did not smoke
...for years and then started again. I quit years ago but I started smoking again a couple of months ago and I like it.
I've "quit" a few times... most recently for about a month and a half. Going to give it another shot soon.
I stopped for about 2 years, but back at it again.
couldn't even imagine going back again... it is one thing to become addicted while young and foolish, but after having licked the addiction, it just seems insane to start again :2 cents:

I have a pretty strange smoking history.
I started smoking at the age of 22 which is a stat anomaly. Most people who had not started smoking by their late teens would never become smokers. I only took up smoking because the state of California thought that they should have the right to tell business owners what they can and can not do. I already had a smoke free establishment but this pissed me off that they thought that they could just dictate what we could do as business owners. I felt that the market should be able to dictate what was needed or not. If non smokers wanted more smoke free places, they should of opened them. They would become super popular if there was a market for them of course. Yes a stupid reason thinking back. I stayed a smoker until I decided to quit when I was 29. I ended up quiting and did quit until I was 32. I did not fall back on to smokes, I started again by choice because I was in a small party mode and also liked the buzz it gave me. They really let me work longer and eat less. I also decided for health reasons to quit 4 years ago. I have not touched one since. |
Winners never quit...
Smoked all my life, since I was 10 or something.... Was lucky NOT getting sick from it. In one week I have been smokefree and like it :) I really, really hope that I never will start again!
tried few times, failed
I smoked for 10 years. 40 cigs a day. Im glad I gave it up. Will never go back, however I like a cigar every now and then. :D
I smoked for over 10 years and then quit cold turkey about 2 and a half years ago. Haven't fallen back and taken a drag since, but I still want one almost every day.
I only smoke passive beacause there's no money in porn and i have to save money.
Stopped smoking 1.5 years ago, and still not smoking.... :)
I smoked for many years, quit for 15 or so, started again for another 5 and have not smoked for about 15.
I quit for two years once and started back up. It was the stupidest thing I ever did. It was nice at first but after about a year or two of smoking again the effects started to kick in and I realized what a mistake I made. I ended up smoking again for another three or four years before I was finally able to quit again (Feb 5 2009). Did it cold turkey and loving having my taste and smell back and not being utterly winded from a simple hike. That and the GF says my loads taste WAY better.
I smoked for 5 years then quit for 8 then smoked for 5 years and now have quit for 7 years. I really hope I never start again. What an awful addiction.
Took me about 20 tries an now haven't had one for 1.5 yrs. The key is to "Do NOT Take that first drag. 1 drag = fail!."
I quit a year and a half ago and have smoked once since. Luckily I didn't pick back up the habit. I can still smoke cigars sometimes also..
smokers are weak minded people and i in general do not respect them.
I've "quit" for anywhere from 2-6 months like 3 or 4 times now. Seems the thign that always fucks me over is that I go out partying, get hammered, wind up wanting a smoke or two, bum a couple, get tired of being a bum and buy a pack, smoke half the pack or more, wake up with a half pack, and I'm all of the sudden a smoker again.
At the moment i haven't had a smoke in about 2 1/2 weeks. i bought one of those Nicorette Inhalers to try and ween myself off the nicotine and it actually worked pretty good this time. I usually go for a week or two of being a nasty miserable prick when i quit cold turkey. This was a easy let off. Who knows if I'll actually quit this time, I'm willing to keep trying though. |
Never stared :)

quit for 7 years. Before that had several failures but tried to stop it again and again. Put on some weight at the beginning but started working out every other day and now feel better
This November marks my 4th year since I quit. Never stop thinking about lighting one up. May start again when I get old since I don't want to die in good health.

I quit 9 months ago. Thing is with me, I can't stand the smell of the crap now. It turns my stomach when I get around someone smoking. So I dont see me going back to it ever again. |
