$8000 homebuying tax credit, have you used it?
i havent bought a house since 2000 and am ready to buy another soon and take advantage of this little tax credit thing, has anyone on here used it and if so how long did it take for the papers to clear etc, any info appreciated

Doesn't it have to do with a tax credit? If so it would apply with your tax return. ???
. |
It is a refund on your tax return and can be used on 08 or 09 taxes. if you owe money this could pay that down or you could get a fat check :) we have closed about 100+ loans for first time homebuyers using this credit.some states even have programs to advance you the $8k to buy your house LOL

We filed for ours in June, a month after we moved in and are still trying to get it.
Just got a second response from the IRS stating they are reviewing our case and we will hear back by January 2nd I think it said. We had amended our taxes for it. :( Not counting on it any time soon, that's for sure. |
I heard they changed how they work and can be now used as part of your down payment. May want to look into it.

My understanding is that it can only be used as part of your down payment if you go through certain programs. They give you a short term loan if you meet certain (usually very strict) requirements.
I haven't used it yet but hope to before the newly extended deadline arrives in spring of next year. |
own too many houses to be eligible. Wish I could get it though.
