Question for Anyone Married or Single
Married people:
If you had to go back and do it again, would you get married? If so, how long into the marriage was this or was it even before you got married. If not, how honestly happy are you? - As in, "this life is tolerable, im to comfortable to leave" to "my wife and I are best friends, I couldnt leave without her" to "everyday i wake up and see my wife, i feel like the luckiest man in the world" Single people: Are you honestly happy being single? If not, do you think that being in a relationship will make you happy? Do you envy friends and family that are married with/without kids? If you are happy being single, do friends and family ever say anything to you about "not being normal?" as in being married with kids, etc.? The reason that I ask is because it seems that every friend that I have that is married wishes they were single and says "dont get married, bad idea if you enjoy your freedom" while single friends say "I wish i could find a girl to marry and have a family with?" I know its more of "you want what you can't have" but I do have some friends that are very happy being single and have no intent ever getting married. My uncle is that way to, hes in his mid 40's and loves life without being tied down. edit: the poll is anonymous and you can consider yourself "married" if you are in a long term or committed relationship :winkwink: |
Marriage is a religious institution. Unless you are one of those crazy religious types you really shouldn't do it. You don't have to be legally married to raise a family.

8 out of 10 friends tell me they're unhappily married, or are already divorced with kids and will have to pay for the rest of their lives..
|
I got married at 19, then divorced at 22. Said I would NEVER do it again.
Now I'm engaged. How the fuck did that happen? |
Why do you want to know, handsome?

she ruined my credit, but that was a while ago..never again.. |
I waited until I was 43 to get married, I had a blast being a single manhoslut with tons of girls, and have had some long term relationships as well.
Now we have been married 3.5 years, and Vino is my best friend, I would never want to live without her. Seriously, we make each other very very happy. I AM glad though, that I waited to get married for two main reasons: 1. I needed to bang a ton of girls to get over that "What am I missing" feeling 2. I needed to get to 40 to REALLY figure out what were best priorities in finding the right person for me. The things I thought I wanted in my 20s were different in my 30s and were different when I turned 40. . |
what about engaged people?:)

you always want what you don't have
although: marrying is out of question anyways for me |
I am single and happy. And I am constantly being bothered by people who think there's something wrong with that. Well, those people can go fuck themselves.
|
I'm only happy because my wife is happy. I like to make her happy. If you are getting married because you need her to cook, fuck, clean, make you a family, ect... It won't work.
Happy wife = Happy Life |

I am heading into 3 years. I am very happy with being married to her. It does make my life tolerable. I am certain I could not live without her. I also have a near impossible time sleeping if she is not around, I feel giddy when I do see her each morning. I am very damn lucky. Quote:
Now I am not "legally" married if you mean by getting it done via a church and a license. We established all of a married rights via written contracts, limited power of attorney, etc. Actually it is more solid than a Legal Marriage. By solid I mean harder to get out of at will and things like that. Only downside is there are no tax advantages. |
