People need something to believe in, i never looked toward religion and will not start now.

Religion and science share the very same deal of atrocities and will to dominate us all...

Actually, that's not quite true.

Science is merely the empirical study of the universe we live in. That leads to insights which can be used for virtually any purpose one wishes.

The problem is that people, not science, tend to commit atrocities in their search for power. But those atrocities aren't mandated or encouraged by science - physics may tell us the force needed to shatter a human skull with a club, but it doesn't say one should do that. Science by its very nature is descriptive, not prescriptive.

Likewise, there are religions out there which certainly do not prescribe violence, oppression or domination. Many branches of buddhism, for example, most certainly do not prescribe any form of violence or domination.

Of course, scientists and followers of peaceful religions might still commit atrocities in the name of science or those religions. But the true reason for such actions in such cases lies with those people themselves.

By contrast, religions like christianity and islam actually DO prescribe violence and domination in their holy books. Just look at the passages from the bible in this thread.

People tend to do horrible things regardless of belief. Many contemporary mainstream religions, however, explicitly encourage such actions. Science, on the other hand, does nothing of the sort.
