Does no one create "linklists" anymore?

I've never really found out what a linklist is until recently. These things seem like a monster for getting search engine traffic, how come they're so unheard of?

I think they should be reinvented to utilize the same key aspects, but maybe to 2 video embed galleries, little mini sites with 'tube' vidz.

probably would want to take a look at the two that still do well in the serps and why they are maintaining while others didn't.

$5 submissions 11-06-2009 03:27 PM

They should be brought up to date. Maybe incorporate Web 2.0 principles.

Anyway, directories and link lists are still big in mainstream. Some people even pay to be LISTED. Note: people already pay for submission services, I'm talking about paying to get listed.

IMHO, pay for listing is walking a fine line on Google's "No paid links" rule

Link link are an amazing traffic resource. the SEO juice is insane! One listing can get you multiple sign-ups a day!

Just make sure to follow the rules precisely. Not following the rule can get you banned for life!

Its all about following the rules of each particular link list webmaster.

So WTF is everyone doing? Why is this such a dead technique? Is it just that people are too lazy to create the pages?

BradM 11-06-2009 03:37 PM

No, there's no point.

katharos 11-06-2009 04:33 PM

linklists are good for me, just keep them clean :)

bdld 11-06-2009 05:31 PM

they used to dominate the serps about 4 years ago.

Link Listing was my bread and butter back in the day.

Horny Dude 11-06-2009 11:32 PM

One of the key reasons is all of the good submitters are getting out of the game. The times of building a mini site with 30 or so pics or 4 movie clips and then submitting them daily are dying. Now if you have a link list all you get submitted to your link list all day is garbage. 75% of the submitters won't even follow your rules. Traffic is moving in another direction, which sucks, but thats the game.

blog directories are the new link lists, there is a little number of people who still do small free sites.

I second this opinion. The blogs are the new standard now.
