PPS vs Revshare (2010)

Years back, in most cases you would make much more money with revshare but you had to wait 3-4 months to collect it all, even when a company offered a high PPS promotion.

With some PPS rates still high, would it be safe to say that the tables have flipped, and as an affiliate you will do better going with PPS vs revshare? I know it depends on which company/sites you promote (this is for regular pics and vids membership sites not cams or dating). It just seems like with so many more people having cards that are near the maxed, credit limits being reduced, or people using prepaid cards, etc... that PPS will make you more money than revshare.

What do you think?

You will still make more money with rev share with us... many people leave there cards in for a long time... not everyone... but the few that do will make up for many that don't.

I think you have to evaluate two main things.

#1 The sponsor. If they have a track record of being around, retaining, and paying the revshare is still a great option. If they don't have ALL three of those then I'd say go for the PPS option. Companies that fall into that category are Twistys (of course), ATK, Karups, Nubiles, Ftv. If you are doing revshare then you are trusting the company with your traffic and potential members long term. I'd join their site, talk to them and see how they do business.

#2 Your traffic. You have to match your traffic to the programs you send to.

FUCK that webcamcash banner was blinking while I was replying. Without a doubt the most annoying thing ever. My eyes and head hurt now.

goodbye banners forever

adblockplus also works a charm with firefox to get rid of those

billywatson 11-02-2009 08:15 PM

How often do the sites you promote REALLY update?

If they do, rev share.

If they don't, PPS.

I had a reseller contact me today. He wasn't very active, but he noted recurs from us that were almost a year old...so he's starting to push traffic our way.

It's all in the updates. Keep 'em happy and they will stick around.

Even with best retaining sponsors of mine I fail with rebills... In 2009 I moved to PPS, and I don't regret it at all. Revshare is for webcam [and similar] programs.

After Shock Media 11-02-2009 11:29 PM

I rather my few affiliates be PPS with my sites.
For my traffic it really is a mix, often I am forced into revshare though.

Iron Fist 11-02-2009 11:40 PM

I think i'm starting to tip into the PPS world a little more than I like to... but there are bills to pay :)

umbralui 11-02-2009 11:50 PM

i vote for PPS

Nicky 11-02-2009 11:54 PM

It's what you do with the PPS money you get that makes the biggest difference.

That is what I was thinking. Even with the sites that update often, have quality content, etc... is that enough to offset all of the people who wont be able to rebill in month 2 or month 3 because their cc is now maxed out or their credit limit was reduced on them. Or the people who buy now with prepaid cards that only intend on staying one month.

Sure you have the same problems with cams, but with cams it only takes 1 whale to offset 20 people who have these credit card issues. Where as with traditional pic and vid sites 1 person can't offset 20,50 bad ones.

sex69 11-03-2009 01:24 AM

Although I am still working revshare with the retaining sponsors, I am for pps, too

signbucks 11-03-2009 01:35 AM

this biz will be healthy only with revshare or $20-25 pps
higher rates will cause shady tactics in most cases

it has nothing about you like it or not, it's just about common sense

will76 11-03-2009 01:42 AM

The thing that also has turned me off with revshare is the sites that have cross sales or other upsell offers in their members area. I get the " we need to do 4 cross sales to make enough money to pay you $100 PPS" but, if I am on revshare and only getting paid on the main site membership and not the 4 cross sales, the chances of the person getting hit with all of the charges and not cancelling everything is slim. The site owner loves it he might only make 1 or 2 months of charges but he does it x4 where as I would get 50% of just one of them.

signbucks 11-03-2009 02:06 AM

you must be kidding me
it's you and not program who sends traffic. if you send it to shady stuff your traffic will be fucked up and not buying porn anymore. both yours traffic and those people you trade with

we have listed 100% of all CCBill sites at http://www.SignbucksDaily.com
we also list only those programs which aren't into shady biz (we have blacklisted dozens of gfy 'well-known' programs). just do some research and you'll find honest programs with quality content in all genres

Agent 488 11-03-2009 02:10 AM

in this economy and with all the reduced or cut credit lines even the best members area in the world is having problems retaining. also what is the point of killer members areas when you can get the whole site in a torrent?

speaking from experience, take the pps money and run. although those who have a vested interest in the matter will say otherwise. much of the common wison about pps is outdated.

Ginn 11-03-2009 03:02 AM

It depends on the program, but most of the time i'd still would go with revshare. Though yeah, there are some programs that costumers just don't want to rebill. I don't know whose fault is this (mine or program's or the customer's), but i go PPS in this case.

bloggerz 11-03-2009 05:14 AM

revshare all the way

I could see how programs would prefer affiliates to do revshare, no risk on their part. PPS forces them to float a lot of money upfront and risk not getting it all back.
