Paris: pervert capital of the world?

Paris may be the city of love but it is also the capital of perverts. To experience this, you simply need to be female and walk down the street. You?re almost guaranteed to get your daily dose of dirty old men and if you live on the Left Bank, you really don?t need to go far.

In the space of a few weeks, I have been propositioned by at least a dozen men. As I wait to cross the road, at Saint Michel, a man old enough to be my grandfather leans over towards me and whispers seductively in my ear: "Jolies fesses" (nice bum).

They reveal themselves in broad daylight, in public places. Strolling through the Jardin du Luxembourg on a sunny day, surrounded by pushchair-wheeling mothers and playing children, a middle-aged man standing by the open-air public pissoires, is having a quick one off the wrist.

Now you might suppose, or hope, that this is out of the ordinary behaviour yet my eyes are graced by a similar vision just a few days later. A girlfriend is in mid flow describing the "special" dance scene from Sacha Baron Cohen?s latest film, Bruno, when lo and behold, we get our own show right there on the Boulevard Saint Germain.

Parisian girls get chatted up a LOT, that's why they close themselves up. That's too bad, coz most of them are quite pretty with some feminine essence about them. But Paris is a big city with a LOT of singles (and mostly single women), the rest of France doesn't have that kind of problems.
There's some cultural reading of it I'm sure. I have friends in Canada who felt so free to wear whatever they wanted at any hour of the day with no hassle at all. In Paris, they think about how they will dress twice before leaving their place, as too many guys will try their luck on them just in case.
Are French perverts? I must admit they put too much pressure on women, and they return it to them in the everyday life. If you simply smile to a girl here, she ignores you blatantly. A smile is just a smile. Not an overture at all. Too bad they've been pushed to react this way. It depends a lot of where you smile, though. In the subway, it's definitively a no-go, but on city buses, they're more relaxed.

You get perverts wherever you go. The ones in Paris are pretty tame. If you're hanging around Saint Mich, tourist captial, you're probably likely to get propositioned by someone.
If you're wearing a wedding band, you normally get left completely alone.

from my experience cities in Spain and Italy have more of this. Maybe not the jerking off in the park stuff, but a lot more "picking up" going on... In Spain the gay guys don't give a fuck and you can often see them checking you out and so on. Most of the time you just keep cool, but when they say something, it's enough to get me really pissed.

As one other stated, the real pervert capital is in Japan; Tokyo to be precise. Not like any of us "really" doubt it. I have to say Turkey, Antalya in particular takes the cake by far.
I've been many place, including Paris, where indeed there's a lot of verbal flirting involved.

In Turkey however, they find it normal touch women. Grab and smell their hair.
