AR-15 Semi-Automatic rifle

AR-15 (for Armalite model 15,[9]) is the common name for the widely owned[10] semi-automatic rifle that is derived from the selective fire M16-series assault rifle, currently in use by the United States military.

What's your qusetion?

Looks like a CAR-15

The Colt Automatic Rifle-15 Military Weapons System or CAR-15 was a family of AR-15 and M16 rifle–based firearms marketed by Colt in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Due to their compact size, the short-barreled Colt Commando and XM177 versions of this family continued to be issued to the U.S. military after the Vietnam War.

The CAR-15 name was an attempt to re-associate the AR-15 name with Colt, since the AR initially stood for ArmaLite Rifle, the original manufacturer. Colt later abandoned the CAR-15 concept, but continued to make variations, using the M16 brand for military-oriented models and the Colt AR-15 brand for law enforcement and civilian models. However, in present usage, CAR-15 is used as a generic name for carbine-length M16 and AR-15 variants.

Specifically, "Colt Commando" currently refers to the ultrashort 11.5-inch barrel assault rifle of the Model 733 series, marketed as the M4 Commando (formerly M16A2 Commando). By comparison, the M4 Carbine has an 14.5-inch barrel, while that of the M16 assault rifle is 20 inches.

what the point mang? ..i hit you in the face, turn you upside down, take that semi-automatic rifle out ya hands and shove it into your ass..

no, really.. what are you *trying* to say?

cykoe6 10-26-2009 08:21 PM

I have never liked AR-15s. They jam constantly. They are accurate when they work.... but they a mostly good on the firing range. Give me a cheap Chinese AK-47 copy any day. Will fire forever without a single cleaning.

james_clickmemedia 10-26-2009 08:26 PM

I prefer my H & K MP5. Just keeps on working even without cleaning.

Yea with an unlimited budget the MP5 would be the best choice. :thumbsup

MP5 shoots like a fine tuned "machine":thumbsup

Very deadly rifle. I can see how military wins well with it.

Consfiscated two russian made AK-47's (in the old days). They was old, and a bit thrashed. Picked up some 7.62 and tested them. No problems there! Fired like hell!

Vendzilla 10-27-2009 07:30 AM

I've fired probably 10,000 rounds thru my AR-15, never a jamb, I have the bushmaster

Iron Fist 10-27-2009 07:38 AM

Yup... always pics of some guy who looks exactly like the person who should own a gun like that.

I bought my first AR-15 the day after I turned 18 (35 now). I still own it and I've built a few of them over the years. That being said...I've easily shot 15-20k rounds through AR's & M-16's and have never...NOT EVEN ONCE...had one jam.

wizzart 10-27-2009 10:54 AM

So in USA yuo can have this at home?

Tanker 10-27-2009 11:04 AM

When I was in the Marines and the Army we use the M-4 collapsable stock It fit nicely through the hatches.

I owned a 50 cal desert eagle back then too! Loved that thing.

I love shooting the H&K G3

bronco67 10-27-2009 11:09 AM

CAR 15.

I owned one back in the dizzay.

lol Funny thread. MP5 - no stopping power, might as well use an M4 (see Avatar, yes, that is in a country that is currently at war) or an HK MP7 (4.6mm, massive stopping power for a tiny round). Weapons of choice - M4A2 (custom Knights package, shortened barrel, 40-round mags, EOTECH or Trijicon sights, if maintained properly, you will never have a stoppage), AK47 (a beast but with full American mods) as primaries. Secondary is any type of Glock, Walther P99, or a Sig Sauer 226 (HK also makes some nice .40 / .45 pistols). Tertiary (in pack) Glock 26. Long range - TAC .50 (anti-material), Bushmaster SR-25 (built as a Knights package, Leupold sights, suppressed), M14 (believe it or not, one of the most accurate weapons ever built). Shotgun - as the man mentioned above, nothing beats a Benelli M2.

If you ever wanna know the best things that go 'boom,' let me know. :)

Aren't the problems some have with jamming due to 1) poor feed from magazines. 2) dirt?

Could be the result of a few issues but most of the 'older' problems (with engineering) have been sorted out in the later mil-spec models. But, what can contribute - maintenance of the weapon itself (extreme mistreatment of the upper receiver and/or the bolt and/or the bolt carrier), carbon being built up on the 'face' of the bolt, type of lubricant being used (we use 'dry lubricants' instead of CLP in some environments), improper seating of the magazine and/or 'backing' the rounds in the magazine prior to loading (if you ever see a Soldier banging his magazine against his helmet before loading it, there is a reason for that (except that the whole 'helmet thing' is from the movies and 'backing' is usually completed at the time the magazine are loaded)), and bad ammunition (pretty rare with mil spec 5.56mm these days). :)

Oh, please! Do you even own one?

We hiked with our G36s across country during training. Climbed several mountains with it.
They were not worth jack shit after that. The problem is the optics. They get deadjusted extremely easily. Smack it against a wall and you won't hit shit.
And without optics (you can knock the optics off in emergency situations), the G36 is not worth anything, either.

Yes, because dick size actually contributes to the type of firearms people buy. :thumbsup

Yep. I buy cheap 5.56 ammo for the fun days out shooting. That crap in my pic is either Wolf or some other cheap Russian shit. But since I properly maintain my weapons, they work just fine.

Exactly my point: If maintained to even a 'reasonable' standard, you probably won't have many issues with any weapon.

the first versions had that problem, they made some changes with the loading mech and chrome lined the barrel, after that, no problems. It's a damn good rifle, very accurate.

You are correct and the changes were made many years ago. If you recall...M16's were notorius for jamming when they were first issued to the troops in Vietnam. Those problems were corrected many years ago and they are completely reliable now.
