Anyone else live in an INSANE gated community?
 

I used to like living in a neighborhood with gates, but lately it seems like the recession is taking a huge toll on this whole 'privacy' feature thing.

The community I'm in has started doing all kinds of shady shit lately. When friends or family visit they have to park nearly across the complex in a 'visitors lot' with a visitors parking hanger in their mirror, without this hanger you cannot park ANYWHERE inside this place period or else your car will be towed ASAP. That's cool and all, but they only give out 2 parking hangers per condo... so if I'm having some people over (2+ vehicles) most of them have to park in another fucking neighborhood down the street (completely unacceptable) and walk here then either figure out the sidewalk gate code (which I just finally got) or slip through the middle of the big car gate which now has fucking BEARING GREASE wiped all over it!

These are just the small things that have gotten on my nerves, not only is there a security guard driving around at all times towing anything possible within minutes, but they recently posted some "resident only" signs all over the place in the visitor lot and fucked over so many people when they placed these things one night and then started towing people with visitor hangers the next day! Luckily a friend of mine noticed one of these signs posted directly in front of his car and he moved it to the 'new' visitor area, which consists of about 20 spaces in a dark ass corner of the lot.

Then one night a friend had gotten a flat somehow while he was parked in the visitor area with a visitor hanger in his mirror, THEY TOWED HIS CAR THAT NIGHT FOR A FLAT TIRE!

The worst part is I can't do a god damn thing about this shit because it's private property and they can do whatever they damn well please on it.

This shit is ridiculous and I'm thinking the whole gated community thing is more of a hassle than a safety, at least right now.

I'm not even going to get into how much of a fucking pain in the ass it is dealing with the impound people to get a car out.. let's just say they don't give a flying fuck about anything except towing cars, to the point where they've towed cars with passed out drunk people inside and even 7 year old children sleeping and then left them in a fucking impound lot in the Florida sun!

I think its the gated community you live in.

We dont have such things in the netherlands, but i would love living in one.

Maybe speak with the manager/owner, not us? Huh?

I live in a gated community with the HOA managing everything.

There is a security patrol at night that monitors the pool area and such but they don't give a damn about parking on the street. Its pretty lax.

They are building one right now just outside of Amsterdam (Amstel eiland)
