People seem to need the next big major disaster to look forward to. I'm not sure why. Back in the 70's the bible thumpers were predicting the start of the 7-year tribulation for 1981 (ultimate end of the world in 1988, one generation after Israel becomes a nation which was 1948. A generation in the bible is 40 years) Well, that didn't happen.

1996 didn't happen (some Nostradamus followers thought '96 might be the end)

Y2K 2000 came and went, nothing. (I get the feeling that some people were even disappointed)

Now 2012. Ka boom. This is it people, been nice knowing most of you.

I think stupid people will go crazy. stop paying their bills, cars getting repo'd, homes foreclosed, credit cards go into collections... then 2012 comes and goes and were in worse shape than we are now.

I think earth will go threw some changes, but I don't think it's the end. I'm hoping that it has an effect on the human consciousness. Change our connection to the time space continuum. Change our reality. I'm all for it. :)

Unfortunately I think it will be with a few exceptions. I think we will be in for some real surprises with regards to our economy, status in the world, dollar in big trouble and probably at war with someone new.
I don't think so. There was some definite risk of things going wrong in Y2K if they hadn't scrambled to get things fixed before hand. There is no proof that anything will or will not happen in 2012.
People tell me I am strange for thinking this but... I hope so. If something that awesome happens I would like front row seats to watch it all go down.

I think the movie will suck ball sweat. And the year itself will be a year of better economic growth and more centric basis for regulations, as well as an improvement on the way the rest of the world looks at us. Hopefully at least.

There is no such thing. If something as massive as Planet X is supposed to be we would already be able to see it and even if we couldn't it would still be close enough to have some serious gravitational effects on our planetary system.
