Toronto Maple Leafs - are they this bad?
 

Thought they would be better and more exciting. but this start is dreadful. how long before heads roll in TO?

they are all going to watch mighty ducks this weekend and also the movie slapshot

I am a Rangers fan but would still like to see the Leafs do well. To me it's always fun when the original 6 teams do well

I think it's a total disaster. Burke wanted to be a hero and tried to build a play off team too soon. They should be thinking more long term and developing players in the AHL instead of trading away draft picks. 27mil and a 1st and Second round draft pick for Phil Kessel? I think they crapped the bed on that deal. More of the same it seems.

They are always a fucking disaster... watching that goalie implode is just comical.

uh, Toronto Maple Laughs have always sucked... at least for the past 20 years or so... it's pathetic... but stupid Torontonians have so much leaf pride and the tickets get sold out every year so there's no need for them to make a team that can win any games

As a Maple Leaf fan, I hate to admit it but you hit it right on the head. This fucken ridiculous organization doesn't give two fucks about their fans or the team. The decisions they make are moronic at best, they won't make the playoffs this year either and the games will still be sold out everynight.

Got to love my fellow Canadians for staying true to their team, no matter how shitty, but unless someone else steps in or the fans boycott the games, nothing will change.

Who knows maybe we'll bring back Wendel Clark, Doug Gilmour and Nikolai Borschevsky for a late season playoff run where we have to win 25 games in a row to make the playoffs...fucken idiots.

Worst team in the NHL, highest ticket prices. Finally people aren't buying seats. They had sold out every game since the 60's but in the last little bit they aren't able to sell tickets! They suck ass! My home town team are a bunch of skating clowns!

They do suck this year, and so far, but the owners do want to win.. Winning creates brand new generations of fans, expands the fan base even. Over time fans get older and start to forget about victories in the past. I have seen a lot of kids around the toronto area and i see a lot of teams jerseys being worn! if they built a winning team there would be a hell of a lot more. How many jays jerseys you see around when they won the world series back in 92/93? A lot more than you see now anyway.

One thing is for sure though, GM's and even sometimes coaches can be seriously over rated. Burke put a team together that won the cup fantastic! Doesn't mean he can do that again though. If he did it a number of times i would consider it more but he hasn't.

I think he is no different then when quinn was in power really. all the same kind of hard nosed players (which usually means they can't skate), all have to be canadian or american and over 27 to get any ice time.. which is actually a pretty bad way to run things. Shit no wonder they are losing.

Haven't followed them closely but based on the espn.com highlights it looks like quite a few goalie errors. First shot is always yours but if you can't control the rebound then your defense should have enough intelligence to pick up the left overs.

Dude loves sliding around the ice though...goes down every single shot.

I had this conversation a few weeks ago when a bunch of guys were glowing at the thought the Leafs were better. Simply said that I have been a fan since they won their last stanley cup - but the past years I gave up hope since I hear the same song "this could be the year". Repeat of the last 15 years of them starting - better team - stronger - they could make the playoff's... just tired

Checked the scalper rates lately? They've dropped dramatically, people are selling their tickets at around 50% of face value. The fans have had enough and rightfully so. I wouldn't pay to see the home team get their asses kicked.

highlights don't show the whole story unfortunately. You can resurrect turk broda and pull ken dryden out of politics put them both in the net at the same time and they still wouldn't be winning games... the defense act like a bunch of pilons. Forwards go in and out and right to the net untouched.. or they screen their own goalie for any shot beyond the dots. If they let in a few weak goals now and then it is probably more due to fatigue than anything :)

maybe they can start dressing the raptors? bosh has been playing at acc for years surely he has learned to skate by now...probably has some skeels! hehe
