Canadians needing to fill out W8 forms?
 

Do we Canadians have to sign W8 with sponors? 5 Years in this scene I've never had the need to, and now a sponsor refuses to release payment till I fill out and send some W8 form?

just fill out, what's the problem?

Never heard of a w8 form.

Sponsor didn't tell you you needed one before you sent the joins?

Practically speaking, It's not you that need it, it's the payor that needs it. Do a quick search on the IRS website, it explains the purpose of the W8BEN pretty well. or you could just google "UBS" and "Swiss Banking"

Yeah, W8BEN is for Canadians, its a simple 1 page form that certain sponsors require. Without it, they can withhold 30% of your income as per the IRS.

First time I've seen this.

Every sponsor I promote has never asked for one.... hope it stays that way :) I declare all my commission income every year so I don't see a reason why they would need that.

yea a w8 is pretty standard. Especially if you are paying out alot overseas. People have to understand that this isnt a tax free game. Porn is probally the most taxed game in the game. It's not a cash business.

Yup. Like I said 1st time, I have over 100 differnet sponsors.
I don't wanna start giving my Social Security Number out to random porn companies.
I'll probably fill out their form, get my money and drop them as a sponsor.
