Saw Michael Palin yesterday

I went to a taping for a tv version of a radio film review show of which I am a big fan. We had no idea there were even going to be guests let alone who they would be. However, since the London Film Festival is on a the moment there are lots of names around so it wouldn't have been too much of a shock that somebody would be on the show.

It turned out that Michael Palin was the guest talking about his new book and 40 years of Python. He was really great and it was a good interview and he did take audience questions. He even did a silly walk for us :)

Now, that was a nice surprise for a Sunday morning!

Any other Python fans around?

Cleese was the Head of the Ministry of Silly Walks, what was Palin doing it for?

He's actually done some really good followups other than milking the python line. He did the around the world series which was excellent.

Lucky gal!

Actually..he was demonstrating that he didn't do the main silly walk even though people always ask him about it..lol

He has done way more with the travel stuff than Around The World In 80 Days..I can think of maybe 5 other series he did which have all be great.

Just happened to catch the Independant Film Channel last night during python-athon. New documentary footage interspersed with relevant skits and such that they're showing this week. Last night they talked about the very early years and their inspirations and such.

I think they're showing an hour or so of it each night this week. It's carried by time warner cable in HD in the US, channel 797.

I enjoy watching his stuff!!

I'd never have thought that a just few years ago. I guess i'm getting older... :winkwink:

his silly walks cannot be toped... well possibly by another one of the Mony Python crew, but no one else.

I laugh every time i see him spinning about in Life Of Brian claiming to be "ex-leper" LOL

You are the second person to say that to me this week. I have always enjoyed his stuff but then I am geek. I suppose for others it must be something they 'get' as they get older.

Four of the surviving Python's (except Palin) made a really great appearance on Jimmy Fallon's late night show the other day. DirecTV also carries IFC. I watched that Pyhton-athon documentary "Almost The Truth- Lawyer's Cut" last night too. It was great. I have the rest of the week's worth of shows set to record as well.

IFC also had the Monty Python Live at the Hollywood Bowl movie on last night. Watched that and then the 1st episode of the new documentary. Made for a really good evening.

Ah yeah that was the name of it! I missed the Fallon interview, but I did catch all 4 of them on the Kieth Olberman show (weird place for them maybe, but it was cool).

edit: did you see that footage showing young dudley moore? lmao. About the children on the menu, how do you think they prepared them? "I should think they didnt, I should think they sprang it on them." I laughed my ass off at that reply.

Sarah_Jayne 10-19-2009 11:01 AM

Dudley Moore and Peter Cook were doing their thing at the same sort of time that John Cleese was breaking through on That Was The Week That Was and other similar shows which eventually shaped into the Python team.

Watch the Culture Show on Thursday night..that was what it was for. Some guy right next to me asked a question but I doubt I will be on camera much but you never know :) The last time I went to a taping for the Culture show I was on asking a question and then I knew it was time to take the diet seriously again..lol
