Yemen gets its missiles and North Korea threatens nukes.
 

I understand from the latest google news that Yemen shouts "What the fuck?" and the US is embarrassed and lets Yemen have its missiles from North Korea.. while North Korea says "Fuck it.." and if it can't get its oil it's reviving its Nuclear program.

Foreign policy just doesn't get any better than this.

Why is everyone treating Yemen like an enemy nation? Is nobody brown allowed to have weapons?

Yemen made an agreement not to purchase these weapons from North Korea.

Considering that most of them don't have electricity I'd prefur them not to have Missles that can have bio and chemical weapons put in them and fired 300 miles to there favorite enemy.

Maybe its just me, or do you think all these 3rd world country should have access to missles that can deliver bio weapons?

Bummer they had to give them back, I guess the USA needs to make a new law "No missles supplied to ANYONE unless its Russian, China or the USA"

I bet they relialized that Yemen would have grounds for making them pay for the Scuds, so instead of paying Yemen for scuds worht Millions they just let the towels heads keep em.

I was at the grocery store and they had Yemen, 8 for $1. That's a good deal. They don't need missles, they are up to no good.

The US wants to be the biggest arms producer and seller and decide who gets them. Seems only reasonable to me.

Then 10 years later when they decide the "good guy" is now the "bad guy" he has to give them all back.

Plus they can only be used for defense, especially if that means occupying other peoples countries.

The whole thing seems totally reasonable to me.

You know, there might be reasons why we should be keeping Yemen from having weapons. But I am not hearing any of them here. I am hearing American ignorance, and I am hearing a fear of brown people and "ragheads".

I assume this isn't entirely directed at me, since I am an American... However, I think I can reply anyhow. I was asking for the people who believe we should treat Yemen as an enemy to *justify* their statements. If someone shows me that they understand why they hate those particular brown people, I will be satisfied.

My first question was why would they need them. There isn't much within range of Yemen. Saudi Arabia is within range and Yemen and the Saudis haven't always been on good terms. As far as I know, Saudi Arabia is still our ally. That's a good reason to care.

However, if the US decided later that it wasn't cool with Yemen having those SCUDs it wouldn't be much of a thing to take them out. You can't exactly hide them well in the desert.

It doesn't matter *why* they need them. What right does one country have to intercept a legal trade of goods between two sovereign nations? None. Such blockades are either acts of war, or of piracy, and either way not on the up-and-up.

You might be overstating the legitimacy of this transaction. Painting over the North Korean flag, not flying a flag, and packing the missiles in concrete doesn't sound much like a "legal trade between nations." Vessels that don?t identify themselves while traveling in international waters risk being boarded by any nation that sees fit.

Yemen recently agreed to not buy weapons from the North Koreans. This purchase was made before that agreement was made. Maybe they were trying to sneak them in so that the US did not become alarmed about it, but it backfired. Yemen tried to deny that they belonged to them first, then changed their story.

With certain areas of Yemen being almost lawless, I personally don?t believe it was an over-reaction to board a completely unmarked vessel coming from North Korea to verify it?s contents and it?s destination.
