as a Saints fan for 23 years..

I hope this is their year. I've never seen them this able to execute on both sides of the ball.
Fingers crossed!

They rolled the giants, very impressive. :thumbsup

this game proves again why i don't bet on football. i was way wrong!

hahahahahah, nice work saints.

kane 10-18-2009 02:22 PM

I like the saints and I love having Brees as the QB on my fantasy team.

Zuzana Designs 10-18-2009 02:25 PM

The saints look great!

natron 10-18-2009 03:19 PM

I won 20 bucks on the saints today
Go Saints! :thumbsup

PornMD 10-18-2009 03:26 PM

Ever since you guys got our Brees, I've been rooting for Saints success. Would love to see a Saints-Chargers SB sometime. I doubt it this year with the way our D has played.

Mutt 10-18-2009 03:30 PM

it seems like this truly is their year but really it all comes down to which team is on a roll in coming down the stretch - injuries of course are always a big part of it.

MikeAI is a lifelong Aints masochist - he's at the game today. His head must be exploding.

J. Falcon 10-18-2009 03:33 PM

You guys deserve to finally win one. I hope you do.

23 years... Long time. I read Oct 14 article that says Saints quarterback Drew Brees has thrown for fewer than 200 yards in each of his last two games.

will76 10-18-2009 05:29 PM

Just got back from the Game. Jabbed at a bunch of Giants fans all day. They didn't have too much to cheer about. How about them Saints!!! kicked the ass of the #1 Defense (what use to be anyway). The game wasn't even as close as the score showed. Can't wait for Atlanta monday night in a couple weeks.

how is this for a stat....

THE SAINTS HAVE NOT TRAILED FOR 1 SECOND ALL YEAR!!!! IN 5 GAMES, THEY HAVE NEVER TRAILED. THAT IS TRUELY UNBELIEVABLE FOR ANY TEAM. HAS TO BE A RECORD.

Duke, did you use to live down here? If not, how did the Saints happen to become your favorite team ? Not like they use to win much in the past.

J. Falcon 10-18-2009 05:48 PM

The season is still in diapers, it's going to be a long road. And the Saints team is particularly cursed. They have had a lot of bad luck in the past.

Scott McD 10-19-2009 09:07 AM

Yeah i watched the game over here in the UK! :thumbsup

They made it look easy at times. Very nice win for the Saints! Not many teams will do that to the Giants this year...

96ukssob 10-19-2009 09:11 AM

they are doing great this year and dont have that hard of a road ahead of them. playing the Patriots and Cowboys should give them a challenge, but I definitely think they are a superbowl contender.

the Eagles on the other hand... not a f-ing surprise here

WebairGerard 10-19-2009 09:12 AM

their offense looks unstoppable. if they get home field they will be going to the super bowl.

Tom_PM 10-19-2009 09:20 AM

First Saints game I've been able to see on tv all year so far. They looked great. The Giants had a couple of calls go against them that were crappy calls, but even still it wouldnt have changed the score.

How can the giants have a top rated defense when they've only played teams with losing records? Things that make you go "hmm that stat is worthless".

The Saints also had a BS roughing the passer call that cancelled an INT return for TD by Sharper. Which would have been his 3rd pick 6 of the year.

I believe I was a freshman in high school when I caught a few games of theirs on tv. I liked how they played. Their under dog style I could relate too. Bobby Hebert, the QB at that time, became my childhood hero of sorts. I had alot of respect for Swilling, Jackson, Mills, and Johnson too, the infamous linebackers that were awesome. That year they won their first ever playoff birth. That was 1987. I can't stand people who like teams because their good. I like them because they're bad. Now they're good which is a treat.
I can tell you though, in 23 years, there haven't been many good times :)
As far as not liking the Giants, I just don't. I guess because they are still called the New York Giants when they play in New Jersey. I had friends on the Giants too. Jimmy Finn was one of them. He played Full Back up until 3-4 years ago. I grew up wrestling with that kid. Tough mofo for sure.
I guess, I always like things that are underestimated. Like New Jersey, The Saints, Heck, even myself. I have been underestimated my whole life, even my program. Here we are still in business when many have folded. I know that has nothing to do with the Saint's, but I am just that guy who roots for the underdog. That guy who picks the nerd as my first pick in touch football. I like being an alchemist.

very nice game last night

As a Lions fan for the last 30 years, all I can say is "I'm Sorry."

will76 10-19-2009 10:12 AM

How about some stats for Saints fans:

Average points scored per game: 38.5 (1st in NFL)
Average margin of victory: 20 points (1st in NFL)
Beat:
DET by 18
PHI by 26
BUF by 20
NYJ by 14
NYG by 21

The Saints have not trailed in any game this year.

Total Offense: (YPG) #1
Turn overs: +9 #1

The saints have scored on every opening drive this year, 4 TDs 1 FG

You picked the right team ;) They have had a pretty bad past. I started watching like you around the 86/87 season as a kid. I was about 10 years old and don't remember watching much before then. The dome patrol years with 4 Pro Bowl Linebackers was great. Hebert is now the radio voice for the Saints and does radio sports talk show so I get to listen to him every day even though you can't understand what he is saying sometimes.

The under dog is always fun to pull for. :thumbsup

I wish Ironhead was playing now as well.

that was a helmet to helmet hit, the ref made the right call.

everybody knows you can't do that.

terrible game for the giants. Saints offense looked unstoppable

LadyB 10-19-2009 01:22 PM

I seldom post, but I just couldn't resist this thread..

Yes sir!!! My beloved Saints are now 5 - 0 and this is definitely their year!

Drew Brees is without a doubt the best QB in the NFL.

So glad to see Lance Moore back in action, he and Marques Colston were beasts yesterday!

Was also nice to see Shockey get a little revenge on his former team lol ;)

I too thought the call on Vilma was BS, but after seeing this pic on nfl.com I'm not so sure. He'll probably be getting a fine for this. : /

http://static.nfl.com/static/content...allery_600.jpg

and I SO wanted to see Sharper get a pick 6 on Eli :( Sharper did say after the game though, something to the effect of "That's ok, we're not done with Eli yet!" lol

obviously Sharper thinks he'll be seeing Eli again in the playoffs, and hopefully that'll be in the Dome! ;)

First things first though...

Next up.. the Miami wildcats

Bobby Hebert was the Saints QB when I was at Tulane... first time the paper bags came off the heads.

I was at the game and it was a little hard to see the hit on the big screen replay. I recorded the game at home but haven't watched it yet. Looking at the pic I feel even more that it was a BS call. His face mask is in Eli's chest, the top of his helmet is on Eli's face mask. It really isn't a helmet to helmet hit, he didnt hit him with the crown of his helmet, he didn't lead with his head. It was a form tackle, he is hitting him with his arms and chest at the same time his face mask is hitting him. Could have just as easy not been called. However some precious QBs like the Mannings will always get those type of calls. :disgust

Ummmm that is the definition of helmet to helmet... If you have ever been hit like that you would agree - makes you feel like all your teeth are about to fall out.

Anyway.. as a Giants fan my hat is off to the Saints. I hate saying it since you guys are basically the NJ Giants south with Sean running the show but the Saints are by far the team to beat this year in the NFC.

Cant say I am upset by the loss, I will take 5-1 and this will give an overly confident Giants team reason to re-access their supposed superiority. I wouldnt want to be a Giants defensive back in practice this week with Coughlin going over game film. Brees and your WR crew torched them.

And good luck to the Saints and their fans they do deserve it...

Don't be mad at the call, your issue is with the NFL rules.

kristin 10-19-2009 04:06 PM

Can't believe they are undefeated.

dyna mo 10-19-2009 05:04 PM

if there was a bad call by the refs in this game, it was the saint's shanely fumble that wasn't called a fumble
