Any FCP gurues ? How do you export to a PC

FCP produces QT HDV3 files which cant be opened on Adobe Primer Pro because apple does not have a HDV codec on PC.

How do you guys move HDV files around between mac and pc's

I am all pc here at my place. But one conceivable way to do it in a cross platform environment where you want to move HDV footage in between Mac & PC workstations would be using the Cineform codec AVI like I do. If you have the appropriate software installed on both machines, you can go back and forth at ease and even "re-wrap" the container from AVI to MOV depending on which system you are using.

YUP!! But sometimes doesnt work that well depending. seen scenes get muddy at times. Or i export the edited scene out to dv and send it to my client. Extra step, but it gets there with no issues.

Nope. But you do need an HDV player. Or you could use your camera.

My experience is with using a sony HDV player. I have sent in over 200 tapes in like that. I edit Mac and a lot of my clients edit PC. Tried all of that trans coding shit, but at the end of the day turning HDV tapes got the best results with no re-do's.

I have been doing this, this way for 2 1/2 years. Their may have been some changes recently. But if they got PC, they are getting tapes. If they have Mac, they are getting hard drives. Simple and it works.:2 cents:

Good luck with what you are trying to do. It can be a pain.

Tape is not an option for me. I found one software http://www.calibratedsoftware.com/QXD.asp ....will look at that.

Another option is Cineform codec.
