it dosent matter what kind of index file there is. but php is the most common. and if you dont use an index file then you need a .htaccess file to redirect to whatever start page you want. i cant wait till next week :pimp

The Porn Nerd 10-17-2009 02:06 PM

So why not am index.html file then? 'most common' says who? How many sites index files have you checked?

Another case of a webmaster who does things HIS way then assumes everyone else does it the same way, or SHOULD, and anyone who does it differantly is a big fat shmuck.

or maybe I misunderstand?

I think for a 6th, something like missing.html or equiv for custom 404 would be used more :2 cents:

Put this into your htaccess file, then:

robots.txt blocks certain web crawlers from accessing your site. It also can specify certain off-limits areas, like your /members area.

Did you mean htaccess? robots.txt is just a guide for well behaved robots. It doesn't block access.
