So TGP's dont accept galleries with email forms on the page?

I wish I could understand why not as I'm sure there's a good reason, but I can't. So.. why not?

cause most people use out of the box scripts that have limitations

Limitations? That's a feature. Personally, I have the form tag set as banned text. If it appears in the gallery, the submission is automatically rejected.

.....why? Why is an email form on the persons site a problem for you? I'm not trying to be an asshole I just don't understand it..

There are several ways to abuse a form. That's a tag that any site owner would want to block.

Long ago in the days of old, the TGP gods set their rules in Ascii and those were the rules that mankind would from then on follow.

So people block them for the simple reason that they don't know if the site owner is doing something malicious with the collected emails?

Best answer.

Most of the rules are part of the reason that they are a dying breed (in my opinion). You cannot move forward in an industry when you lock down your site to 1999 standards.

So I should just say "Fuck the system" and throw it on the ground?

No but really, what are some of the core reasons this is a hazard to people accepting TGP submits?

Yeah I think I get it now. Well if it's that much of a problem I guess the form must generate a lot of opt-ins then.. :winkwink:

Most do not know, they just copied the runes from others.

LOL, I guess I will just have to put a 'link' to the form on a separate page..

Admittedly, it has been many years since I did TGP. but don't have a max number of outgoing links?

That may not work.

Yeah it is actually very simple. The OP seems to think that TGPs are a charity giving out free traffic to use as you see fit. :winkwink:

tgp galleries are for showing surfers samples of the content that is within the program.
if the surfer likes the content, he will follow the links to the tour and maybe even join the site...i dont see the need for an email collection box on the gallery...

The man has spoken.

Jakez 10-15-2009 11:17 PM

Ahh, I'm not a TGP submitter myself so I forgot how simplistic galleries on major TGP's look. I submit galleries to a few smaller sites that don't care that I have the gallery between my normal header/footer of the site, which is why I couldn't understand why an email form would be such a problem, but if we're talking big TGP's, which we are, it's obvious that they wouldn't want the form on a simple title/banner/gallery page.

Iron Fist 10-15-2009 11:24 PM

Big sites only want your content... nothing else to distract them from visiting their site should they not visit yours. It's part greed and part protectionism.

yeah, i only accept gallery submits from my active affiliates. in part so that i can control what goes up, and to insure the page doesn't become a redirect.
