What *nix text editor do you use?

vi when I need to do regex stuff but I love my pico!

VIM(VI iMproved) with colorhighlightning. vi is good to know since almost all *nixes comes with it. I hated it at first but now I really like it.

VI, it's always on every distro.........if you only learn one editor, make it VI.

btw, why no one write unix? ever *nix. I don't get it. :helpme

vi/vim in the hiz-ouse. In 1995 was I working tech support at an ISP and using PICO. They bumped me up to web development (CGI's in C with msql) but only on the condition that I learn vi. So I did, and I've loved it ever since. Don't even have to move my fingers off the home row to move the cursor. And the colorhighlighting is nice in vim.

if you're serious at all about unix s.a., you better know it.

some people will probably call me psycho, but i use ed frequently. ed knowledge is critical, especially when you need to edit something and /usr isn't mounted (which has vi and libraries), or you have no terminal emulation. ed, to the rescue! and it's powerful.

people do *nix or un*x because unix is a trademark. i think it's owned by SCO now or something. anyways, technically, Linux, FreeBSD, etc are unix clones. people probably also say *nix and shit because they're the same people who write sh!t ;)
