Does Aspirin Cause You To Bleed?

I was occasionally taking a 300mg aspirin (its a two a day but I only took 1 pill) and i found that every now and again, id find a red mark in my mouth somethere as if it had been bleeding. Next day, the mark is gone.

Occasionally id get a small mark on my arm, again which looks like i was bleeding but isnt actually bleeding.

The thing is ive heard so many benefits about aspirin, i would like to take a low dose aspirin on a reasonably regular basis as I have bowel issues and its supposed to help a number of potential problems i have. Im thinking of taking a low dose aspirin (75mg) which is about a quarter of the original dose i took before.

Good idea or bad idea? Any of you take regular aspirin?

No, that's AIDS. :2 cents:

It does not make you bleed it thins your blood so if you have a ulcer etc in your mouth it may bleed because your blood is thinner. People who have bad hearts are sometimes given asprin so there heart does not have to work as hard to pump the blood.

Hope this helps

aspirin kills something like 20,000 americans a year

bleeding is just small side effect lol

theres a reason pregnant women cant take aspirin and its not because its healthy...

Ask your doctor dumbass, just because a drug is sold over the counter doesn't mean you should self medicate.
Asprin affects your blood and taking it regularly can be dangerous depending on your health. I take it because I'm at risk for clots along with plavix which makes me bruise and bleed from any small nick.

I would be going to the GP rather than asking GFY.

The "low dose" Bayer aspirin is 81mg and for the heart regime type of use (sold in the US that way anyway). Like you say, you dont take the 4 or 6 at a time like it says on the bottle. Just 1 a day.

My stomach hurts from aspirin so I rarely take one.

I hope your insurance is paying for the Plavix. That shit is no more effective than Coumadin / Warfarin and costs 20 times more. I have heard that from no less than four different Drs. in my decade long battle with clots.

Never heard abou aspirin doing that!

Aspirin is a blood thinner. It's safe. Larger doses will cause small marks or bruising because it thins the blood. Pregnant women can't take a lot of different drugs since the fetus is affected more significantly than the mother. Ignore the medical paranoia kooks.

Low dosage aspirin (like a Bayer 81mg) is generally a good idea.

your capillaries are constantly bursting and repairing themselves all over your body. they close up almost instantly with that constant tension being regulated by your blood properties. aspirin has anticoagulant properties which would interfere with that ability (in large doses) to clot/repair those burst capillaries resulting in slight bruising like you describe.

DISCLAIMER - i'm not a doctor... i sell porn and i'm kind of an arrogant, cynical dick.

I should have explained, ive already taken medical advice...... however, medicine isnt an exact science, so I like to also take a sample of views from other people who actually use the product and use that to, in some small way, help me form a judgement.

Aspirin can and does cause internal bleeding in some people. Aspirin can and does cause death with some people. There are many people that cannot take aspirin with out major side affects. Many people that have had strokes or heart problems do take aspirin to thin their blood.

Yes my insurance covers drugs 100% after my deductible (I buy my own insurance cause I'm not a fucking moron.)
I've been on warfarin as well and hate that shit, if you like taking rat poison and getting random bruising because it's so hard to get doses right with regular blood draws sure do that to save some money but like you said they seem to be effective equally when it comes to clotting so I'll take the easier of them!!

Oh, don't forget about nose bleeds those are fun when your blood is thin.

96ukssob 10-15-2009 02:25 PM

asprin in low doses is ok, but many people just take 2 or 3x the amount, plus drink a lot of caffeine with is a toxic and lethal combo.

asprin is a blood thinner and with caffeine, it helps push blood around faster... if you have internal bleeding or an ulcer, it only worsens the problem
