I swear by Microsoft Frontpage
I know you guys all love dreamweaver and photoshop.... but not that im a Microsoft fan but I use Microsoft Frontpage and Photodraw 2000.
Say I'm using crap? Well, take a look at our webpages at http://www.ftvgirls.com and see the nice web design, the nice graphics. It all comes from those programs. I feel both programs are harder to work with but more 'solid' -- best word I can come up with. Also this second website (a gaming site -- my hobby) was done with frontpage/photodraw: www.toheroes.com |
TEXT EDITORS FOREVER!
I hate all wysiwyg editors. No exceptions. |

Same here... I tried both Dreamweaver and Dreamweaver MX and did not like them at all... too many useless things for basic html work.
Frontpage might be simple, but it's solid and easy to work with. I won't show sample cuz there's too many copycats in here :1orglaugh On the other hand, Photoshop is simply the best in the category. |

I swear by TextPad :glugglug |
Frontpage is not bad because it's "simple" - it's bad because it generates absolutely shitty code.
Not just poorly formatted code - bloated, broken code. I can't tell you how many times I've had to "clean up" FPs crap. There's nothing wrong with using a GUI editor, and that's my only beef with it. Dreamweaver MX on the other hand is far more competent AND it generates good clean code. Cheers, Backov |

Blah. I can't post it.
But I love the font tags around your line breaks. :) It's why I hate all WYSIWYG editors and Frontpage in particular. |

Well I started my first webpage in 97 with a text editor, then soon found Netscape communicator editor, it really sucked :)
Then found frontpage 97 and used that for 2 years. Then Frontpage 2000. and then one of our webdesigners bought Dreamweaver 3 into work and I instantly loved it. It just worked a little better than Frontpage 2000 for putting sites together. Now i'm a Dreamweaver MX FAN. I got Adobe Golive off the net and IT SUCKS BIG FAT HAIRY BALLS stay away from it. It is probably more stable than Dreamweaver, I have had a few occansions when editing other peoples downloaded sites it crashed dreamweaver but Adobe golive loaded it perfectly fine. But the designers of Golive have no fucking clue how to make a web editor. I mean its got so many damn functions and the learning curve just to do basic shit is huge, I have 2 screens, 1 with all there useless bars and tools on 1 side and the website on the other and even then it was slow and cumbersome. Dreamweaver MX forever, its basic, FAST, doesn't have excess loads of shit and has a fantastic built in replace option. Frontpage 2000 still puts pages together but if your doing complicated HTML with mulitple tables inside tables Dreamweaver would be my choice. Your sites not bad but dude, get Adobe photoshop its what 99% of what people use so why bother with something else? I'm sure you can download it off the net if you don't have it already. Sammy |
vi > *
but i break down and use dreamweaver from time to time :) |
Nice title action, Keywords for a title, so professional. :> Also, putting text in size=1 and same colour as background. Yeah, Gotta love search engine spamming for keywords. Yes, that is what most search engines consider that. No wonder your main page has a link popularity of 2 and the other pages 1. :1orglaugh

Dreamweaver seems to be the tool that most designers use. No shitty code and weird shit that can only be edited frontpage. more importantly compatability.
You wanna be a designer or make a design that will be edited by someone else...then use Dreamweaver. Otherwise, Frontpage is ok. |

I use NotePad, Composer and hehe PHPcoder

Whats the difference between Text Editors and wysiwyg editors?
|
Abbey, With text editors there is no interface to see the page in real time. You are writing straight code. You have to visualize in your mind what is happening with the page look as you do your coding.
I use Note Tab Pro when I'm in a total text mood and Dreamweaver MX and a few others when I'm in the WYSIWYG mode. There is nothing wrong with using Frontpage FTV, your site looks great. But FrontPage does often generate code that looks good when you do it, but messed up with non microsoft browsers. |
You guys should check out Max's http://www.max.co.yu/htmlbeauty/

i know front page will fuck up your affiliate code.
|
I don't use wysiwyg editors either but for those that do, in the sitepronews.com newsletter this morning there was an article on the advantages of using Frontpage and it detailed "fixes" that stop Frontpage from reformatting your code.
