I love the games scramble mostly now - but I try new app's all the time even the ones like Offender Locator

http://www.cnn.com/2009/CRIME/09/29/...ime/index.html

The information, provided by an iPhone app called Offender Locator, helps Rodriguez make more informed choices, she says. When the app pops open on her phone, there is an eerie sketch of a man's face. Then, the app asks for an address.

"I am constantly worrying about the well-being of my family," says Rodriguez, who uses the app several times daily. "You can't be too careful."

Since the iPhone launched more than two years ago, a handful of crime-fighting tools have emerged among the thousands of innovative apps. They give ordinary citizens the capability to sleuth and guard themselves against crime. Users can conduct a background check during a dinner date or avoid walking through a high-crime area.

If you drive a lot - check out Trapster. It kicks ass and will probably keep you from getting quite a few tickets

cops hate this app. i saw something on the news here a while ago about it and the officer they interviewed said "its not the application or idea that we dont like, its that people are attempting to use their mobile phones while driving which is dangerous."

Around me" will probably get you that info.I love that app.

Jayvis 10-05-2009 09:46 PM

Yeah, "Around Me" is great.

If you're into music you can't go wrong with Pandora or the Sirius app.

Games: Peggle is addicting as hell.

There are some good book apps, you can learn CSS while waiting in line at the bank. :1orglaugh

NaughtyRob 10-05-2009 09:52 PM

Trapster (Already mentioned)
Bump (Transfer contact info with someone, no hassles)
Shazam (Identify music)
PUMA Index amuses me, if you follow the DOW it might amuse you too
Now Playing (movies, closest theaters, etc)
Bubble Wrap (MUST HAVE!)

fatfoo 10-05-2009 10:10 PM

I don't have an iPhone. But my favourite application would be some game, probably. Gotta check out those games.

Sebastian Sands 10-08-2009 12:00 PM

Trapster seems to work, it tells me where :live police" are.. and seems to be pretty accurate

Monique Niccole 10-08-2009 12:04 PM

Most of my favorite apps have to do with either food or music:

Yelp
Open Table
Urban Spoon
Pandora
Sirius

I have mixed feelings about this app, on one hand kinda neat technology, on the other, are you that fucking paranoid that you think every stranger that walks by is a potential child molester?

NetHorse 10-08-2009 12:23 PM

Tools / video / music

Pandora - Music
NPR news - Current news clips
Babelgum - Funny or die and other funny video clip sites

After Shock Media 10-08-2009 12:28 PM

Nice to see just about everything listed has a google ap version so far.
Yup no I phone here, not only does their coverage up here sort of blow. I can change the battery in my phone.

Jakez 10-08-2009 12:32 PM

lol I have some of these apps mentioned.

-Pandora is a must, PLUS it never stops playing music and asks you to pay like the website does on your computer
-Trapstar LOL, enough said
-Beatmaker - I bought this app for $25 and it easily turns the iPhone into $xxx-$xxxx worth of beat making and mixing equipment. So insane! It's not a little toy app either it's very sophisticated.
