Antibiotics - What can and can't do?
So I have this thing call Broncitus. On Antibiotics till Sat. I suppose you're not supposed to Drink or Smoke?
|
Well what antibiotics are ya on?
Generally you shouldnt smoke, but menthols may be nice. Drinking depends on what your on. Yet coffee or hot tea slightly spiked feels good, helps with the pain.. BTW if your with no alchohol then look over the cough medicines. Since mostly are pure alchohol. |
Drinking amplifies medication. It sounds like a good thing, but it's not. Don't do it.
No idea about smoking. With your condition, definitely not though. Will thicken your mucus. Drink plenty of water and stay away from milk. Will help thin your mucus. |
Zithromax
So no Alcohol?, if that's true it's going to be a long week. |
I dont know how true it is, but i have heard that caffiene will block the antibiotic.
|
And then again, it depends upon the severity of your bronchitis. I'm assuming you're quite congested?

Jamie, comtrex is awesome, it is over the counter, and it works GREAT for chest congestion..

Your medication is a brandname for Azithromycin.
(I am dissabled and constantly on antibiotics and various medical crap) There is no anti alchohol warnings with this drug. You do want to AVOID sunlight as this will make you sick as hell. Do not take any anti acid medication 2 hours before or after taking this med. It should be taken 1 hour before or 2 hours after any meals. Capsule should be taken with a full glass (8oz) of water. If it is the liquid form, use a measuring cup or spoon and not a tablespoon or kitchen device. You need the right dose. If it is the packets, mix the grains with 2 oz water, mix and drink right then, add 2 more oz water to that cup and drink that. Watch for these things. · nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or abdominal pain; · unusual dizziness, fatigue, or headache; · vaginal yeast infection; · a rash; or · increased sensitivity to sunlight. If you get them contact doctor. If your on any of these. (Tegretol),(Dilantin),(Theo-Dur, Theolair, Theochron, others),(Coumadin),(Lanoxin, Lanoxicaps),(Orap),(Halcion),(Neoral, Sandimmune),(another antibiotics). Let your doctor know. |
If you only have a mild cough, you should NOT be on antibiotics... Antibiotics should be reserved for serious or long-lasting illnesses ONLY. It is the over-use and over prescribing of antibiotics that produce antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Even using antibiotic soaps and household cleaners contributes to the problem. Better off to let your body fight it off, and only use antibiotics as a last resort. In fact, a lot of times they are prescribed for viral infections, which they are useless for anyways.
Okay, that's my rant. I gotta stop studying biology :( |
