No, the Iraqis reverse engineered medium range SCUDs a long time ago. They build their own now. What Yeman wants with them, I don't know. I guess they can forsee a day when they'll need to attack Saudi Arabia (just a guess). There isn't much within range of Yeman.

China will never be a super power because their economy is not sufficient, not to mention over population causing strains on any social systems intact.

I just think the iraq thing is bullshit, the fact is the real threat is bin laden and company, if we would really know something about nukes on iraq we would bomb them already.

Everyone sees who the real threat is and its not saddam, some of the former US inspectors are so mad at this they say openly bush has other things in mind and not this country.

I think we are all missing the big picture here. Something big is about to go down.

All this shipping of scuds, military build ups etc.

I think a bigger war will break out in the next 1-2 years, involving north korea, iraq and god knows who else.

The big question is, can the U.S. fight a multi-front war, or will we stretch our resources out like the romans did & lose our "empire" within a century.

yes, large population and a nuke doesnt AUTOMATICALLY equate to being a superpower, but I think china has all the ingredients to become a superpower within the next 10 years or so. Everything we buy here in the good ole USA is made in china. China is in the position that the USSR was back before we were born, they already have the groundwork set, it just needs to be executed properly. That remains to be seen, but they certainly have the potential

i would agree with the statement that in the long run, communism will hinder economic growth, but I believe they can still get there under a communist regime.
Afterall, USSR was a communist country when it became a 'superpower' back in the day, but sustaining that under a communist regime would be next to impossible. ofcourse, it's a new world out there, old rules may not apply to this new world, and I think it's quite clear that a countries economy has a direct impact on their spot on the podium of power.

China's economy is already growing. They have more mobile phone users than the USA now. By the end of 2003 they will be the 2nd largest importer of home computers next to the USA. Their internet cafe's in the major City's have 1,000 + pc's.

The USA has 250,000 troops stationed all over the world from what I have heard and they have been placed their for a reason, at least i think so :)
