Pam Anderson, Tommy Lee Win Judgment on Sex Video (IEG)
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - A judge has awarded former "Baywatch" star Pam Anderson and her ex-husband, rocker Tommy Lee (news), $740,000 each in their long-running court fight against a porn company over a notorious videotape of them having sex.
U.S. District Judge Dean Pregerson awarded Anderson and Lee a default judgment in their long-running, 1998 copyright infringement and invasion of privacy lawsuits against Internet Entertainment Group for selling the videotape over the Web. Pregerson initially threw out the lawsuit in November of 1998, saying that the couple had signed away the rights to the so-called "honeymoon" tape, but an appeals court overturned that ruling and ordered further proceedings. Since then, Pregerson said in granting judgment to Anderson, 35, and Lee, 40, IEG has failed to appear in court or defend itself in any way, essentially defaulting the case. Pregerson, in a written ruling issued last week and made public on Tuesday, said that he was granting Lee and Anderson a total of $1,481,786, which amounted to the profit that IEG made on sales of the tape, to be split between them. http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmp...le_anderson_dc |
Yeah, have fun collecting it from Seth though ;)
I saw him on the Tommy Lee True Hollywood Story...I didn't realize he was so young... |
I didnt understand this one when it happened a few years back.
Someone broke into their house, stole their tape, and the courts granted the thief the rights to that tape? |
I can hear him doing that snarl snort thing in court room while talking to the judge.
SRHRHRHRGH SNNnnnrrnk :1orglaugh |
Can someone inform me what the point of this exercise is?
Two rich B and C Level stars suing an emperor with no clothes. Why wouldnt the judge just throw this nonsense out? Both of them received way too much publicity outta that tape and it definitely extended their cultural shelf-life. |

They can't collect anything from something that basically no longer exists. I'd love to see them try to find that money.
They need to pay K-Man a bounty to find Seth. :1orglaugh |
this might open the door for them to sue anyone publishing the video as well

The judgement was against IEG not Seth. Interestingly all of IEG's old sites are now owned by a different company. Good luck collecting that judgement.

Last I heard Seth took some of his millions and moved to the Gold Coast area of Australia to run from all the legal problems he got into with IEG.
I still have bounced IEG checks around here in my files. A lot of webmasters got butt fucked with that whole fiasco when it went south. Club Love was a big player for a while there though. |

I heard he made 10's of Millions on that tape along. EVERY MAN AND HIS DOG wanted to see it.
But that was mere rumor who knows what he made, he kept saying he was making $100's of millions when he wasn't. I'm sure as hell that he made more than 1.5 million though. Sammy |
People STILL want to see that damn thing!
There is a video provider that streams it, does anyone know who it is? The feed is on Karas. |
As we've seen with the corporate accounting this past year, numbers are only as good as the people that type them into the spreadsheets. LOL
Don't believe 90% of numbers people tell you. Most guys siphon money like crazy in all sorts of ways on things like Seth's video of P&T. |
The $1.5M is presumably the amount of profit made from selling it on the web, since that is what the case is about. Total revenue, especially from video sales, must have been a lot more than that.
Also, I keep wondering... All the cases say they signed the rights away. To me, this all looks like a publicity stunt. The claim that it was stolen doesn't fit the fact that they seem to have signed-away the rights... |
he must have made more with a tape like that, especially since it was in 1998-99

I remember back in 1996/97, I wrote an IRC bot that would go into every warez channel on every server, and looked for keywords of people requesting warez.
It would then email them, say "Sure, hey I think I saw it here: http://www.geocities.com/myurl/blah.html".. it would take them to a "This site may be down due to high demand. try refreshing in 5 minutes." We're talking tens of thousands of clicks a day.. Inside about 6 hidden frames where every IEG site and others on 3c to 20c per click.. Made me a bomb of cash. I was getting a flood of checks in my mailbox each week. Those where the days. :evil-laug Until every op on every warez channel banned my ass. :/ |
Hahaha! That's a funny sig Pentae.

Seth is in Australia...
