Google Wants You To Help Them Change The World
 

In case no one noticed it, Google has a link on it's index page to their project site http://www.project10tothe100.com/

Users from around the world submitted ideas on how to change the world for the better and now they are giving people the chance to vote on those ideas to pick 5 winners. The winning ideas will be given grants totaling 10 Million dollars with Google working with organizations in the 5 areas selected that have an expertise in each particular field.

The ideas you have to choose from are:

1) Enhance science and engineering education

2) Create real-world issue reporting system

3) Promote health monitoring and data analysis

4) Create genocide monitoring and alert system

5) Build better banking tools for everyone

6) Collect and organize the world's urban data

7) Work toward socially conscious tax policies

8) Encourage positive media depictions of engineers and scientists

9) Drive innovation in public transport

10) Make educational content available online for free

11) Build real-time, user-reported news service

12) Create more efficient landmine removal programs

13) Make government more transparent

14) Provide quality education to African students

15) Help social entrepreneurs drive change

16) Create real-time natural crisis tracking system

They've been doing this for a while I believe.

The best way to change a poor country into one with a decent economy is to open up its economy.

So why put a poll here when the binding one is google's?

Because I want to see if the responses here in any way mirror what wins in the actual contest and because voting anonymously at Google is one thing, but to post a poll here opens up more of a discourse.
