Is the adult community slowly moving away from icq to Skype?

seems like more and more people are moving away from icq and onto skype!

Do you see this trend happening with your webmasters? friends and co workers?

I never thought icq was that good it just was one of the first i knew of that had the history function.

Hm, nobody has ever asked me to skype them. Is it free and non-invasive? Easy to delete if you get the itch to erase it forever?

skype is about security (512 bit encryption) and the ability to call for free on your skype and hear voice. and show me how to live stream video cam to cam on icq?

ICQ for adult related business. All over stuff for mainstream and personal stuff.

don't think so, some people use it, but it's far from an industry standard by any means...

ICQ/IM is just text messages for your PC. The advantages of text over voice on a phone are clear, it's really no different for the PC.

Skype is great for interaction, meetings, face to face, support, etc.. but it just doesn't hold up to the 'text' abilities, mass people using it, etc.

Skype also has to deal with services like VOIP or Digital Phones, which have free long distance.

ICQ is here to stay... probably longer than Skype will be around.

I use Skype for personal contacts but I would never want to use it for business....... I prefer ICQ for that.

I never understood why adult just doesn't use Live Messenger... Am I the only one to think that?

Skype is much more secure then ICQ Spark is even more secure then Skype but has its limits...
ICQ used for quick basic biz chat..

Gave up ICQ. I much prefer skype.

ICQ is easily more secure than most login forms we use, paysites member data, affiliate member data, email data, just abotu everything we have online, is less secure than sending a message with ICQ.

Most of you use FTP software... that's less secure than ICQ.

Out of everyone here that says ICQ isn't secure, I bet not one of you could grab data from a sent message.

its not the grabbing of data .. its more the data is stored on the ICQ servers and have been used in court in the past..

nope... skype sucks ass... but we use it for voice conferencing... I just get spammed constantly on it... I hate that piece of shit.

I use both.

ICQ for quick text chat.
Skype for people I need to speak with, like family, business partner etc.

Skype's not bad, but I've not once been asked to Skype by someone in adult whereas everyone still seems to ICQ. So I would say ICQ is still the standard until Skype becomes more commonplace. I would never do any business transactions based on a cam chat though - need text for history-sake.

Your history with people is on your PC, your ICQ list is at stored with them, or it used to be. I still have 2000b. Either way though, icq history or any chat history and emails can all be used in court.

Because early on it sucked and had no off line messages nor history.

Face it ICQ grabbed the market when adult started and unless a super heavily attended adult convention gets taken out with all occupants inside, with the majority of old schoolers showing up for some odd reason, then perhaps, just maybe ICQ can be challenged.

I have never once skyped for adult business. no one has ever asked me to either. Not sure that the standard is moving but I wish it would as I never use icq except adult.

its a computer. run them all. I have adium w/ icq, aim, yahoo, msn, goog all going. then run skype as well. case closed.
