nocostporn 12-10-2002 10:34 AM

1 mil to live comfortable for the rest of my life, the mil would go into real estate of course :winkwink:

quiet 12-10-2002 10:35 AM

writing, school, travel, documentaries.

these things (usually) do not make money.

:glugglug

PaulSweet 12-10-2002 10:35 AM

not interested in retiring...

Pipecrew 12-10-2002 10:37 AM

DrewKole 12-10-2002 10:38 AM

Hmm... as long as I've got a pretty monkey in 1 hand, and a corona in the other... I don't care.

So... probably tomorrow with about $20 for corona's this week.

10 used to be safe where fuckups could happen and you'd survive. But the market plunge changed all that. I think you need to be in the 25 to 50 range now and even that can get dicey if you invest a lot of your wealth in startups and the like where things can go south quickly before you can get out.

I was talking with a woman friend who has $2.5 M cash in the bank, not counting her other assets, and she said she is scared shitless right now about being able to retire and not worry and feels completely at risk compared to her other friends. So its all relative and how you look at things.

10 would do me just fine. That's the number that when I hit it, I'm out that day. I mean don't get me wrong, I love my job, but deep down inside there's a lazy stoner with no work ethic dying to retire to Maui.

Phoenix 12-10-2002 01:05 PM

enough and money are two words that i dont often equate...

i want lots, 10 mill sure but more please....also as long as you can incorporate what you like to do with what you do...why retire?
that being said i am a long way off to be thinking about it

UncleJimmy 12-10-2002 01:08 PM

ditto to what Phoenix said, but I could prolly retire off of 4m, but would never quit working, would just find something more fun to do

superweb 12-10-2002 01:32 PM

Retire? Why? I like my work very much, so I don't want to retire. I want to lead my projects to fast grow, i have such a success, so why should i become retired? I want more money, than i have now. I will always want more, than i can have! Retiring is for old people, I'm young, lets talk about that topic 30 or 40 years later!

Believe me guys I retired for 2 years and its boring as FUCK, thats why i'm back in :) . It was good for the first 6 months doing whatever I wanted but it really gets boring having to much time on your hands. Find a job you LOVE, if this is it then never leave this biz. If its something else, then make your millions if you can and then get out and do the job you really want to do.

Although getting into a normal business or normal job after doing this biz must be really hard.

50M ? IMO it's related to the type of life you want to live. If you want to drive Bentleys and have a 10M home, sure 50M might do the job.

FlyingIguana 12-10-2002 10:29 PM

i would never retire. worst case i would buy sport teams and be a somewhat active owner. i'd go nuts if i just retired, gotta do something. i'd prolly work harder than i do now lol

but money wise, i'd say 7 billion or so.

pine 12-10-2002 10:46 PM

three-fiddy. There's a sale on Loch Ness Munchies.

CC 12-10-2002 11:19 PM

4 million.

xxxinnovations 12-10-2002 11:35 PM

Will not retire until I OWN shit... will need atleast 20 million before I can allow myself to retire.

Pornwolf 12-10-2002 11:37 PM

342 million.

Raven 12-10-2002 11:50 PM

Retirement means death. Too many stats support that. Man retires. Man dies. End of story.

Keep working. Make lots of money. As you get older, work less. Spend more.

But, never stop working.

bhutocracy 12-10-2002 11:53 PM

2M in real estate. I'd paint, write and make music. thats the dream anyway.
