Serious questions about mentioning other ADULT WEBMASTER boards

The rule clearly states that the ban hammer comes down for spamming other boards with the intention of taking members away from GFY.

If I mention another board in the following context, would that get a ban?

"I noticed a really cool feature on BillyBob's Badass Biz Board yesterday. If you hover your mouse over a thread title, it shows the first 50 words of the first post in a lil popup tooltip style window".

Would that be allowed or would the OP get the hammer?

That's just creative spam...

BAN!

You probably just have to keep it relevant.

As shown in the last 48 hrs, you cannot link another webmaster board.

Saying I'm out of here, find me at www.hahahhaha.com isn't spam. At least not that I see.

I would wait till the skin drama cools off a little before trying that :winkwink:

I can actually understand why that would be considered spamming in a valid way. Combined with the action, you are in reality saying "I'm leaving GFY for this other place and you should too".

"Find Me" is a call to action.

I'm looking for something more solid than "probably" :winkwink:

Simply a conflict of interest... nothing to do with SPAM or CONTEXT

GFY doesn't want you posting links to other boards because GFY doesn't want to give away free traffic to other boards, and potentially lose traffic.

Simple. Simple as that. I don't allow links to other forums on my forum either...

IF that's the case the rule should simply say that.

"No Links to Other Adult Webmaster Boards".

That's pretty clear.

The way it's written is.. ambiguous at best.

I hate lawyer language and disclaimers on simple things.

I think they're relying a little bit on you knowing when you're doing it.

DaddyHalbucks 09-25-2009 09:56 AM

I don't see what is unclear about the policy of not posting links to other boards.

It's called 'spamming' so that you think it's spamming, and not simply referencing (and therefore advertising) the competition.

Anyway I'm just talking out my ass, but that's how I see it, and that's why I do it on my forum...
