No adverts on TGP?
 

I'm thinking about new adverts-free TGP site. It should work on refferal basis. Gallery submitters will have to sign-up under me in sponsor programs and use only these sponsors advertising on their galleries.
This concept should keep my hosting fees low, because there will be only text on this TGP.

most people already have accounts for most of the programs they wish to promote.... also, BW shouldnt be that much of a concern, use cologroup.com or some cheap cogent based BW and it wont bit too hard into your bottom line.... fleece your tgp with galleries of your own, have no ads to help you traffic increase, and once your traffic is blown up, then tag it with ads... and if your ROI with BW is negative cashflow, adjust, because you're doing something wrong...

I basically did the same with Exciter.com when I was properly promoting it and it converted extremely well just based on text links alone. I later added one banner just to give it a more visual appeal and it enhanced sign-ups but only marginally - like less than 10%.

I subsequently left the biz and am selling the site but I have to say that if I was continuing with Exciter.com and I had a grandfathered Overture account, I could probably convert good sign ups by firing $0.01 traffic at the site which is pretty decent considering todays TGP traffic. Having said that, all the traffic was type-in traffic (I later sold all the type-ins) and the high conversions were largely down to the fact that we only ever gave away 10 galleries a day and no-one could leave the site unless it was through a sponsor.

Even with the banners and other gifs, the index is still only 50k which is pretty damn good bandwidth wise.

surfers have always hated advertising anyway. I'm all for giving them everything they are looking for for free *AND* without the heartbreak of banner ads.

It's a different Era. TGP owners can now make good money by selling traffic to traffic brokers (who in turn sell the hits to TGP sites) While a 20k TGP has a small chance of generating sponsor sales, it has the ability to create stable income by selling a few k of hits each day. It's not like the old days, where you had blind link sponsors and search engine boxes that could turn shit into shinola :winkwink:
