opinion on my pics from photographers?

I was all gung-ho on buying a bunch of new gear to try to take better pictures, when all it took was to mess around with it a little bit to see what works and have a couple photog-buffs I know yell at me for taking shitty pictures.

good thing I work for a guy who doesn't really care :1orglaugh

Granted I'm still not good by any means, but anyone that has been paying attention to the pics I've been posting can tell that it IS improving a little.

One of the things I've been paying attention to is my backdrop and DoF, as I had virtually no depth to any of my pictures (if any at all), so now that I've got that figured out a little I think that's helping improve them the most.

Hopefully I can get some more input on what to look for when taking pics? I'm still not working with the quality of models that some of you guys are but I'm trying to make the most out of each photo session. Not bagging on the models I've worked with because I think they're all cute in their own way, but I'm definitely not working with girls that have YEARS of experience like others.

I'm not a photographer by all means.
You have softer light in the last pic.
What did you try to achieve?
The first pic looks kinda raunchy. But it can be as much a turn on for a guy as the last pic.

Hiya Jon,

Well your defiinently getting better! The second and third shots are better quality pics, because of the lighting, but are you shooting porn or art? keep this in mind when your shooting for a client. The last shot with the close up pussy and out of focus head, great for more art angle, but the client might not want that, they might want it all in focus so shoot for what is needed. Id be cleaning up her pink knuckles and the pimples on her ass as well, only takes a tick in PS. I done my first porn shoot last year and i didnt think i did too bad, but some of it is arty and i cant sell it and i cant upload it to any arty website or i get my ass kicked! Good luck with your work :-)

I dont see anything wrong with any of them. They could and would be used by different sites thats all.

These things turn out to be a lot harder work than most people think. Good on you for trying to improve, and good luck in the near future.

Maybe the photos would look better if you didn't shoot butt ugly whores

Fletch XXX 09-24-2009 05:40 AM

an old pornographer in the valley once told me this: never take a shot if an electrical outlet is in the frame LOL from that day on ive noticed them and why he told me not to.

Vicious_B 09-24-2009 06:28 AM

I had to go looking for the elec. outlet; it's not too prominent so in this case it's not a big deal.

nice juicy pics:)

The biggest general rule of all photography is: "A picture is only as good as it's subject"

Go outside and take a photo of a pile of dog shit. What is that a photo of?
Now go and put glitter, sprinkles and little ribbons on the dog shit. Now what is it a photo of?

Keep these rules in mind before pointing your camera at a subject.

I'm just trying to achieve pictures that look natural but are also quality. Basically pictures that you can look at and say "Hey that's hot" as a normal viewer but other photographers can look at and say "Hey, that's a good picture."

Those shots are all pretty much straight off the camera, very little if any PP work done. I don't really think I want to go the photoshop route as I shoot real looking girls and want to pretty much keep it that way. Amatuer style girls with pro-style photography (just need to work on the photography part) is pretty much what the guy I work for wants.

BASICALLY the photos go to my site I'm working on, and the videos go to him. I'm helping him promote the videos I shoot through my website, so if the more artsy stuff doesn't work, at least I'll know how to do it and can go back to the old style of shooting.

Can't all be met-art, suicidegirls, FTV or any of the other big ones right out of the gate. Appreciate the input though.

Yeah I'm usually good about seeing that kind of stuff but sometimes I have a good angle and don't want the model to move so I just shoot regardless. A better DoF setting would help make that less noticable.

Yeah... well haha. Problem with THAT was that I wasn't prepared or even planning on shooting that girl that night, a friend brought her over thinking I was going to shoot her and I just said fuck it, might as well.

Yup, working on getting a portfolio built shooting models so I can get the super quality girls, and then things will be WAY easier on me. Like I said I've been working with girls that have little to no experience in front of a camera, so it's like trying to teach and learn at the same time - and I personally have ZERO experience modeling so it's hard to say "Hey I need you to do this" when I couldn't do it myself. I'm learning though and getting better at it.

What (other than the models) would you suggest for me to make them more towards perfect? I posted this thread for input and I've gotten some so far but nothing super specific. I'm open to all criticism (as you can tell by my responses) good or bad and long as it's constructive.

[quote=DiFor]nice juicy pics[/qoute]

Thanks!

I would hardly call any of those girls dog shit, I think they're all cute in their own way.

And you didn't give me "rules" you just told me to go outside and take pictures of shit.

Thanks anyways I guess.
