how much to charge for wp installations?
I've been thinking about getting in contact with local businesses and offering to set them up with a website. This would include getting them a domain name and hosting, setting up WP including a decent theme and any reasonable customizations they need that I'm capable of, and giving them some instruction on using Wordpress. Maybe even submit a few articles for them to directories or getting them set up with a Twitter/Facebook/whatever account for their business if they don't have one.
I live in a small but growing town and as far as I know there's no one around doing this so I'm thinking there would be a lot of opportunity for some extra cash - especially with people like real estate agents. I'm sure there are people here doing the same thing so I was wondering what you guys charged or what would be a fair price. I was thinking around $300 might be a good place to start. Any thoughts? |
my country goverment paid for a wordpress based website 80k$+ and 50k$ yearly maintenance, so i guess sky is the limit :D

My brother in law used to sell advertising to very small businesses. He would offer a simple website with a wordpress backend, hosting for a year, and the domain name with a custom header/design starting at $250.00 on up depending on what else they might want.

$300 is enough for that ;)

um why not set them up with a real website and charge them a real fee?
$300 is hardly worth dealing with a company after you start dealing with headaches... Mainstream rates should be much more than that. |
I've done this for a couple of people I know with small businesses, I just set them up with their own IP on 1 of my servers and install WP and get a customized header for them also includes on page SEO for the main keywords they want and some directory submissions. I have charged ~$300 for that including 1 year hosting/domain and IP.

My partner and I build and maintain simple custom sites using Wordpress for quite a few mainstream clients. My base price is $1000 and includes hosting for a year, domain name, an hour or training and a few other extras. A number of them pay us a monthly maintenance fee.
If you have a nice source for finding new clients, you can do quite nicely with this model. |
Cue the flood of adverts offering this service in the local newspapers of the world.

Thanks for all the input, gonna think about this for the rest of week then maybe start contacting people Monday.
I went ahead and got a domain and put a site up so I have something to show people since I can't really be like "Here let me show you this site about shemales I made". One client every week or so should let me finish my last year of school without having to get another shitty part time job so ehh maybe it'll work out. |
I install WP for free for my clients.
If you're a newbie and need help, I'll install it for free as well, even if you're not my client. |

Look around or maybe contact and ask them. You can register a domain, host it with them, get a website built, I think they have wp packages too - so you can install it in one click. All needs taken care of in one place for half of what you were looking to spend. :) |
