More kids lives ruined over sexting

I live in rural pa, just heard today that a bunch of local school boys got busted for sexting. From what I heard there are 2 kids that were honor roll, football team, all around good kids. Apparently they were at a party drinking and some chic 16 yrs old pulled her shirt up and a picture was taken. This kid, 17 yrs old, sent it to a friend. The friend sent it to everyone in his address book, and the following week the school was contacted by the girls parents. The police were called, and the kids are now waiting to be tried.

It is sad, the laws are there to protect people, in this case there are 2 good kids, who basically did the right thing but made a stupid decision. Now they are going to be registered as sex offenders, they are no longer allowed to be within a certain range of the school, forget college, and also they are headed to juvi at the least.

What is everyone elses take on this, am I the only one that thinks this law is stupid when it is all minors involved. I totally understand that kids could be used to hide some pedo, but in many cases so far if just ruined a bunch of kids lives... its stupid to take someone who could be a productive member of society and doom them to a life being labled "sex offender"

xenigo 09-21-2009 08:08 PM

It's absolutely ridiculous. The intention of a kid taking a naked photo of another kid is not for the purposes of exploitation. Preventing the exploitation of children is the basis for the laws regarding child pornography.

What a shame that our so-called "justice system" believes we should require these kids to register as sex offenders for the rest of their lives. That is absolutely fucking pathetic.

CrkMStanz 09-21-2009 09:46 PM

as soon as kids got protection under 'young offenders act(s)' (varying by country) organized crime, gangs, and individuals immediatly started recruiting underage ppl to commit crimes just because their records would be sealed when they hit legal age.

The moment legislation is passed to protect them from 'sexting' you are going to see an explosion of exploitation - underaged kids will be recruited and paid to get pics of underaged kids

I say bust the ones that are caught and expose them VERY publically - to make it not an attractive, fun, or cool thing to do.

c'mon - there is NO excuse for this to be going on. - chick wants to flash her friends, so be it - you record it and/or distribute it - you should get busted hard!

so fuck 'em - let them take the consequences

.

Iron Fist 09-21-2009 09:49 PM

Well no more parties for them.. and no more cell phone fun either.

trevesty 09-21-2009 09:54 PM

I think these laws are absolutely retarded. I'm also against some statutory rape laws.. but arbitrary laws in general piss me off.

If science supports it, the law should reflect it. For example, in Cali.. you can't fuck someone under 18(even if you're under 18).. unless they've changed it. Nature allows for one to get preggo before 18, or get someone preggo.. I don't see why the laws shouldn't reflect this.

Teens are gonna fuck. Teens are gonna share naked pics of themselves. Teens are gonna be teens. Let them do it ffs.

If a 16 year old girl doesn't want to be fucked by a 40 year old guy and still gets fucked, that's rape. Chop his balls off. If a 16 year old girl thinks college football players are "hot" and fucks one willingly, but her parents find out and decide to press charges.. that's fucked. Or the girl decides to because she got dumped.

Vice versa for males as well.

I do feel there should be some discretion given to judges on such matters. I also think they should be listed as something else besides sexual predators but at the same time do not make it so that organized crime can still loophole them.

I do have one issue though with what you said. "Who basically did the right thing but made a stupid decision."
They did a series of wrong decisions and I can not see anything that they did right. They were drinking underage, they were at a party where others were supplying them and the girls alcohol despite them being underage. They took a picture of a drunk girl who had her top up (we know consent can not be given drunk or by a minor), and then they shared it.

Only real question is this:

The one guy who received the photo, and the distributed it to everyone else. Will he get charged? Could he not hide behind it being use submitted and thus he did not need records?

Robbie 09-21-2009 10:00 PM

Thank God that these dumb ass laws weren't around when I was in high school. The first thing that EVERYBODY did when they got a polaroid camera was take naked pics and pass 'em around.

they did a lot of illegal things.. but that doesn't necessarily mean wrong.

You should be shot in the legs and arms, then hanged slowly in public.

Naked.

"2 good kids, who basically did the right thing" - Guess I missed it. What part was the "right thing?" The underage drinking or taking the picture?

"Now they are going to be registered as sex offenders, they are no longer allowed to be within a certain range of the school, forget college, and also they are headed to juvi at the least." - Could have sworn you said they were awaiting trial. Sounds like you have them convicted and sentenced already. :2 cents:

Exactly. Teens are raging hormone factories. Sometimes I wonder if people can't fucking remember when THEY were a teenager. We were all fucking anything that moved. And yeah, the 16 year old high school chicks wanted to fuck the "college" guys who were in their 20's. Of COURSE they did! Those guys had money and cars. That's the way it's always been. The laws are stupid.

This country did just fine for a couple of hundred years without these dumbass laws. It was pretty cut and dry: Molest a kid (a CHILD, not a damn fuck crazy 16 year old) and go to jail.

Now? It's just gotten insane. Just like most laws in this country have gotten.

fmltube 09-21-2009 10:12 PM

Sadly, many of today's youths make mistakes that will haunt them for the rest of their lives. The girl was stupid for flashing. But her image will be out there for the rest of her life. The boys will recover and go on to lead pretty normal lives.

Like many laws today, they fail to reflect on the changing cultures. Sexting is completely acceptable behavior among teens. Its no different with Polaroids 15 years ago. The difference now is that its a major headline especially on the net and it provides prosecutors, judges, and politicians as well as the religious morons all the ammo they need to put these "deviants" behind bars and claim a win for the righteous and moral.

WRT to age of consent, the law should be the same across the nation but this is what happens when you allow states to choose their own laws. The majority of states allow the girl to consent at 16 whereas some states permit the boys to consent at 14. What is against the law in one state is perfectly legal in another.

Socks 09-21-2009 10:12 PM

Sounds like this would have been a good opportunity for the police officers to drive the kids home with a warning, and the parents of the girl to ask for an apology.

Is the girl being charged with anything? Or is it perfectly okay for 16 year old girls to pull up their shirts at high school parties? If it IS okay... Then what the fuck right? Legal act becomes hardcore federal crime in the presence of a camera?

That's what would have happened in this country 20 years ago IF the police had ever been called in the first place. But these days it's all about govt. officials trying to get on the fucking news.

Exactly.

My hardcore religious grandparents even laugh at these laws.. Mainly because their parents got married at a young age, and their grandparents at an even younger age. That was what happened then. You got married at 14-15 years old when you were pretty much incredibly healthy and ready to have a kid scientifically speaking.

Too many parents ignore what they did as a kid. Thankfully, my dad(and grandparents, who also raised me) basically just said to me, "do what you wish.. if you go to jail, you're gonna sit there for a while." :1orglaugh I never tried to test 'em on that.

The religious right takes the word pedophile and completely twists it all up. You're not a pedophile if you fuck a 14/15/16/17 year old. You are if you fuck a 7 year old, and you should be hung by your balls if you're convicted. If it's willing, who gives a shit how old the older person is?

I know when I was in HS, I loved fucking/trying to fuck way older girls. :1orglaugh That's how I got half of my wardrobe. :pimp

Keep in mind that this country was originally founded with the idea of strong states rights. The less control the federal govt. has the better.

Of course the feds have figured out to take in all the money to Washington and then dole it back to the states IF they bow down to the feds.

The govt. is supposed to work by the will of the people. But that sure seems to be a bit of a distant concept here in the U.S. at the point in history.

Yep. My mom was 15 when she started fucking my Dad. He was 21. She had me when she was 16.

If that happened now...my two younger brothers would not exist. My mom and I would have been on welfare because my dad would have been in prison and then when he got out he would be a "sex offender" for the rest of his life and wouldn't be able to get a job.

Stupid laws.

Rochard 09-21-2009 10:39 PM

I'm okay with these laws.

What happens when a a sixteen year old boy takes a picture of a sixteen year old girl and sends it via his cell phone to a twenty-one year old? At what point to you draw the line saying a law was broken?

And these two kids were "good kids" and honor roll kids? LOL. Seems to me they were drinking underage, violating dozens of laws, and now it might even result in a local 7/11 / package store whatever getting shut down because of it. I understand that we all drank under age, but kids also need to understand that their actions have very serious implications.

Same thing that happened when it was done for decades with a polaroid camera...
The 21 year old will look at it and go "Nice tits!" and show it to his buddies who will say the same thing and may even jerk off to it!

Oh, the humanity, the humanity! :1orglaugh

I have reached the tender age of thirty and have never seen a boobie.

Please hide all boobies from me I consider it offensive and that's obviously my right to not be offended as an American.

I think kids just have far too much technology with no rules and just enough immaturity to fuck up their lives for good. If we outlawed social media, then the whole fucking thing would go away.

Whose with me? Get your pitckfork!

I'm with you!

They already made everything that was ever fun illegal. And now? Now not only are we not supposed to fuck hot teenage sluts...we can't even take a quick pic to prove it to our buddies!

I say we just make ANYTHING that is fun completely illegal. And I want to make that law retroactive.

I want the cops to arrest Ringo Starr for that song: "Your 16, Your Beautiful, And Your Mine" and Doctor Hook for that song they sang that went: "She was only 16, only 16, oooh but I loved that girl so...she was too young to fall in love and I was too young to know" And KISS? Straight to prison for "Christine Sixteen" Same for the Stray Cats for "Sexy At 17"

Sure, this used to be as American as apple pie and Chevrolet. But now? We're all fags and hate 16 and 17 year old pussy...Well, at least all the politicians are fags. They make these laws one day, and then the next day they get busted in a bathroom stall "tapping their foot" :1orglaugh

One day there will be another rebellion against the idea of "central control". It won't be under this flag.... but mark my words, it will happen again.

We will fight against idiotic government regulation once again. I also believe the word "teenophile" is a better description of those that find teens attractive :1orglaugh

uhm... sorry... that "fight" the "flag" in question represents is the fight over whether or not slavery should end in a southern economy that was 100% dependent on slavery.

and stronger "states rights" in this case would have certainly meant prolonging the full and complete ownership of black people as slaves to be bought/sold, beaten, killed, raped or worked to death.

you really say some retarded shit when it comes to this shit. you need to address your own issues with authority (maybe your dad used to beat the shit out of you ?) and stop spouting off moronic shit about new world order conspiracy theory tin foil hat crap.

Being a mother of a guy and a girl - I'm having problems with the concept of a guy my son's age being registered as a sex offender if he took a pic of a girl who stripped off her shirt. **go on any beach in europe and you'll find tons of boobies and guys taking pics with cell phones & cameras..etc..**
However, if my daughter would be the girl in question, I'd want the proliferation of the pictures stopped - and I'd be pissed like hell at HER for putting herself in that situation *drunk + not being in full control + exposing her boobs* - and I'd be pissed at the guy that sent off her pics - but I don't think it's something he should be paying for, for the rest of his life.

Better start drilling it into her head that she can't drink until she's 25 & better warn my son that he can't take any cell phone pics ever!!!!!!!!!

Fuck this world is crazy! eheheh

cwd 09-22-2009 07:10 AM

Just so I understand correctly, they are being charged for sending a topless photo to a friend? It was the friend that then sent it out to everyone he knew?
The age of consent in Penn is 16. So basicly, if the 17 year old boy and 16 year old girl would have had sex, it would be ok, but since he sent a photo of her boobs, its not?

Strange...maybe they were some ugly ass boobs...

Robbie 09-22-2009 07:17 AM

You guys have got to understand how our govt. works in the USA:

It's okay for kids to see all the violence they want. Movies that feature people being tortured and killed and blood and guts everywhere. That is perfectly fine! :thumbsup

But tits and ass and pussy and cock. Or God forbid SEX! :warning:warning:warning:warning

Now THAT will "damage" them for life!

We need to have those kids that did this immediately executed. And then have their bodies cut into little pieces and burned.

And of course televise it for the other kids to watch...as long as the bodies are kept clothed throughout the entire process of course.

There actually is a word, it's ephobiphile, and it's 100% natural. Of course males are attracted to young, healthy, sexually mature women. It's natural to be attracted to those most suited for reproduction. Young women are often attracted to older men, again naturslly, because they are more suited to supply for the family and protect the family. THAT IS FUCKING NATURE. I'm 25 years old, I see 16-17 year olds girls every day that I'd love to fuck the shit out of. There's some smoking hot little chicks out there, no one can deny that. But it just ain't worth it. Only 100 years ago it was a common enough thing for a grown man in his 20's to take a 14-15 year old bride and start cranking out kids. Really, at what point did the law decide this was a heinous criminal offense to do exactly what we do naturally? What senator's little princess was fucking the 40 year old butcher down the street? :1orglaugh

It's fucking ridiculous that there's laws like this. If some little chick wants to pull her tits out for a few boys all drunk, and regrets it afterwards. Well, lesson learned. Nobody needs to lose their life over it. If some little chick pulls her tits out on the streetcorner, is everyone who looks a criminal too? God damn...

wanting to fuck a 17 year old is not pedophilia, whoever thinks it is needs to look up definitions for the terms.

That"s not true and there is a ratings system to protect minors and inform parents about objectionable content. R rating means 18 or over (i.e. Legal Adult).
