In Development: Family Guy the movie

A Family Guy movie is currently in development:

Quote:

The Fox TV show The Family Guy will get the big screen treatment. Created by Seth MacFarlane, the animated series focuses on a dysfunctional family with a well-meaning father, a cute mother, two teenagers and a diabolical toddler who wants to destroy everyone. There is also the family dog who seems to have most of the brains.
Source: HSX. It just IPO'd today at $30 share -- I went ahead and bought the max of 50,000 shares at the open price.

Geez, can't they just let this series die?

ProG 09-19-2009 03:50 PM

It's going to suck. Seth McFarlane wants to make a musical.

I hope the series never dies.

I also have enjoyed the numrous musical scores in the seris over the years.
Though a full movie musical may not be the best choice... the Stewie Griffin movie had quite a bit of musical in it, and it was pretty good.

The first movie was fairly good.

HSX is a virtual market. It's free...but addictive.

It better not be a fucking musical. I hate when they do that shit.

The series has been going downhill steadily season by season. Too many of the "this is like that one time when you..."

OK that makes much more sense.

I bet the movie will be PG 13. The executives are too scared to make a rated R cartoon and it limits the box office take when you consider a huge part of Family Guy's audience is high school kids.

The show is starting to show it's age though. Last season had some really crappy episodes, especially the stuff where they are obviously just trying to be crazy and it feels really forced. But it's still the only comedy on TV that makes me actually laugh so I can't complain. It just makes me nervous because the promos for the new Cleveland Show look really weak and they usually put the best jokes in the promos.

The best FG episodes feature musical numbers. An instant classic example: the Willy Wonka/brewery episode.

They should cast Michael Moore as Peter Griffin.
