I hope you're not right, because that would just be the dumbest thing I've heard in a while: that they've been offline because they couldn't open a $5 shared hosting account, which is totally enough for their site

Jakez was here the other day looking for a host and stating something about losing a database or something along those lines.

I am sure he will be back and running soon. His products kick ass.

Yes I had some huge backup problems.. the summary is I was hosting a few sites with a friend who's hosting kept regular backups. Friend suddenly disappeared (RIP? :Oh crap), hosting went down and they would not discuss anything with me because I am not my friend. Had to use a local backup from 2006 :mad::Oh crap:mad::Oh crap

Moral of the story: backups are insanely under valued and host kept ones are almost useless.
Moral of the story PS: MySQL data is very under valued also lol.

No hate for Jakez as I've known the guy a long fucking time, but Babelogger is a shitty script. you get over 5k uniques daily and that fucker will kill you...

I've done so much bug fixes and shit for that script for people it's not even funny... Last 3 people I just rewrote it pretty much, ended up paying me way more to fix it then it costs them...

Dude, come out with Babelogger 5 and fix that shit, seriously...

Lol I install it all the time on various hosts without a hiccup.. although people are always paying to have custom things done to it since it's easily configurable. If your server is setup correctly you won't have any problems running 50-80k of traffic through it. If you're trying to push over 30k through it on a cheap virtual hosting account then well... yeah.

Each time I get into creating a new version I want to have some huge updates put into it and not just some simple little things that could have been mods. V5 would/will have to be heavy into video editing and such, which would take a hell of a lot of time, and I'm really just trying to wait until the tube site thing settles down so I can gauge what should be in a script. I also don't have much experience running a tube site so that is a minor setback.
