Are SLAYER fans THIS devoted?

Die-hard Slayer fans, get ready.

World Painted Blood will initially ship with four special collector's edition CD covers. Each of the four covers will display one-fourth of a continental map illustrated with human skulls and bones; when placed together, the four images form a complete and grisly map of the world.

All four of the initial CD packages will include a special blood-red, see-through top panel with the map displayed beneath it.

The World Painted Blood Deluxe Edition will have its own special layout of the map cover art and will be in a double-digipak housed in a blood-red, see-through plastic sleeve. The Deluxe Edition will include the World Painted Blood CD, the "Playing With Dolls" DVD, a 20-minute animated graphic novel featuring music from the album (including part of a new non-album song), and an expanded booklet
anyone going to buy all four cover versions plus the special edition?

I'm a SLAYER fanatic so of course...I'll have to buy them all...damn it!
haha

I just got the SLAYER edition Vans shoes and mulling a SLAYER eagle tattoo for my first ink...

alias 09-15-2009 01:04 PM

Yeah they are.

Sebastian Sands 09-15-2009 01:04 PM

Slayer was my very first heavy metal concert in Breda Holland many moons ago. Been a fan ever since but I am not going to buy 4 copies of a CD because the covers form a picture

BlackCrayon 09-15-2009 01:11 PM

I won't be buying 4 cds but will definitely see them when they tour. Always a great show.

Elixir 09-15-2009 01:20 PM

I love slayer :)

themadwriter 09-15-2009 01:21 PM

I don't want to buy all four, but I'll end up doing it...ugh, heheh

of course I'll see them live again. While they are a little lesser live than they used to be (Tom's voice is starting to go, but that's to be expected after all these years), they are still one of the best live acts out there....

After Shock Media 09-15-2009 08:36 PM

Ran a comic shop during the haydays of comics and cards. Of course people will buy the special covers. Fuck some will buy not four but either five or nine.

Some will want all four unopened, plus one to play. Others may want four unopened, four opened to show the cool shit, and one to play. People fall for this all of the time. Just hope they do not get the idea of adding 4 random inserts in them, have them quantity numbers (93 out of 1000), or the other marketing shit the comic people played.

Agent 488 09-15-2009 08:39 PM

smart way to make people buy it instead of just downloading the torrent.

I seen Slayer on their "Reign in Blood" tour at the Ritz Theater in NYC which is now the club Webster Hall and they just ripped it. One of the sickest shows back then, within those 2 years, I seen Slayer, Exodus, Metallica, Anthrax, Venom, Celtic Frost, Over Kill, Megadeath, Mercyful Fate, Testament, Crumbsuckers, Sick of it all, Voi Vod, Warzone, Youth of Today, Cro Mags, Metal Church, Carnivor, MOD, Nucular Assault, Ludachrist, Death Angel, and a bunch of other bands. This music was huge back in the mid 80's in NYC. You had a huge music scene of thrashers, Metal Heads, skin heads, and punks back then. On Sundays at 3pm CBGB's hosted "Hardcore Matinee" for $5 you got to see a couple of hot bands perform.

Sure, but the best thing of all back then is you got to see these bands in small places that fit a couple hundred...to a couple of thousand people. You got to see a lot of the same people at the shows, including the club bouncers. I used to take the train back from Brooklyn at 4 am all the way to the north Bronx, my parents would be eating breakfast I am walking in usually without a shirt on. You were allowed to stage dive back then, and slam dancing was more of an art....if the skin heads were in the mix you would get hurt for sure. Even at a local bar in the Bronx I ran into the guys from Anthrax since they lived a couple of blocks away. I met James Hatfield of Metallica in the Village at some record shop and he was like a regular dude.

yup, we had similar with the Huntridge Theater here in Vegas...we had no real scene, but those bands would play and it was the same crowd all the time, cool security guards that knew the difference between slamdancing/stage diving and fighting...and $10 for a ticket for 4-5-6 bands...I was jealous of kids that got to actually grow up in the new york hardcore scene...

Yeah the only problem for me back then I was living in an all Italian naborhood, and myself being Italian I had to keep my "Guido" and "metal head" lifestyles seperate. Where I was living was straight out of a "Bronx Tale", those guys were crazy. They would not accept someone out of the norm. One day I had my hair long with an MC Jacket headbanging, the next day break dancing at some disco club. I just always had a lot of different interests and music at the time kept me out of trouble.

SLAYER is my favorite metal band. You gotta throw in a lot of extra shit so people will actually BUY the CD these days.

You know Craven was with Slayer 4 weeks ago. He was on the tour bus from Texas to Oklahoma doing video interviews.

Craven is also working on taking me and Alan to go shoot the Slayer concert in France. That would be way cool!!!

Love Slayer!!!

Yup, although with SLAYER, they don't move a ton of CDs anyways, but their concerts always sell well and they probably sell 8-9 t-shirts for every album sold...

d-null 09-17-2009 09:54 PM

Cannibal Corpse short interview praising SLAYER as an influence, before a great performance of I Cum Blood in Moscow:
