NFL games should be doubled, if not tripled.

How is 6 and a half games enough time to know if a team should go to the superbowl? They need WAY more games in the regular season.

dyna mo 09-14-2009 08:35 AM

6 and 1/2 games?

I was being literal, of course. Everyone knows about the ceremonial 6.5 game nfl season.

L-Pink 09-14-2009 08:38 AM

:Oh crap ......

gornyhuy 09-14-2009 08:53 AM

They can barely make it through THIS schedule without losing half the team to injuries, how are you going to double it?

»Rob Content« 09-14-2009 08:57 AM

6.5 games?

what the hell are you talking about?

Tom_PM 09-14-2009 08:57 AM

I've been preaching that there should NEVER be a "pre-season" season. I mean think about it! They're fully covered by TV these days, they're fully prepared. People still say "oh well they need to see how they're doing". Oh. Really? Thats why you run scrimmages against your own guys and maybe the local college. Shirts vs Skins. Also, the little fact that THATS WHAT FOOTBALL IS ABOUT! Beating the snot out of each other. Whats next, a pre-round boxing round just to see if you know all your opponents moves? wtf..

All this professional "pre-season" bullshit does is injure players. It's a total waste. No more pre-season bloney, just begin the football season when the teams are ready to play and make more money and make everything count.

very true

i am looking forward to the season going to 18 games, i noticed yesterday many of the starters were huffing 02 and getting iv fluids just to recover.

96ukssob 09-14-2009 09:06 AM

I think there is enough games now. how long do you think the season would go until? May?

If players in the CFL can play 18 games so can NFL players. Cut out 2 pre-season games and you've got the same amount of games.

dyna mo 09-14-2009 09:06 AM

let's ponder- 16 games x 3 = 48 games, they'd need body bags towards the end. it's a brutal game. just the knees alone get an insane amount of abuse- every player. gonzales blew his knee out yesterday in that freak accident, all alone.

can you imagine some of the knee injuries we'd see towards the end of the season? i get a little queasy just thinking about it! LOLZ

Yo Adrian 09-14-2009 09:13 AM

I also don't think fans would be as hungry for games if there were 3x of games played. And if more players get injured the quality of the games would go down, which would probably mean even less enthusiasm during the regular longer season.

Tom_PM 09-14-2009 09:14 AM

The fact that they could be injured out of their career is why they need less of the "pre-season" games. At least make it count, or dont suit up.

BradM 09-14-2009 10:00 AM

18-22 games would be perfect I think

Scott McD 09-14-2009 10:09 AM

In terms of how short the season is time wise, i always think it seems really short.

We are used to having about 2 months off at most here in our "football" season, yet the NFL seems to be in shutdown for most of the year...

I agree with you on that. One of the biggest reasons that I don't watch regular season basketball, hockey, or baseball is that there's way to many games and that watching a game, there's not a huge importance on winning the game because they have many more to play.

With football, each and every game is important because with the season as short as it is, one extra loss could make the difference between them making the playoffs or going home.

smutnut 09-14-2009 12:39 PM

They should have every team from every division make the playoffs every year just like in basketball and hockey too so they can really milk the fans and give out all kinds of false hope. :thumbsup

Not every team in hockey makes the playoffs. There are 30 teams total in the nhl, only 16 of them make the post season.

Jman 09-14-2009 12:55 PM

You obviously NEVER played football buddy. Also if they rise game count when will they practice new plays???

fris 09-14-2009 12:57 PM

its 16 games isnt it? not 6

mikesouth 09-14-2009 01:18 PM

ya you can never have too much homoerotic imagery

flashfire 09-14-2009 01:23 PM

I agree more games would be better...cut out a couple pre-season games

NHL goes until june, doesn't it? Hockey isn't for barbies either.

Tom_PM 09-14-2009 01:30 PM

You practice plays.. in practice. In training camp. During a scrimmage. All day long, every day of your life as a pro football player you practice plays. Thats ALL you do besides eat and rest properly, fuel the machine.

Like I said, why not have boxers make the first 3 rounds "pre-bout" and just learn all their opponents moves? (because thats part of the game)

Pre-season games begin in August. SuperBowl is in February.

Smiley 09-14-2009 03:12 PM

preseason is a joke...they are ready...start the season...whats the difference if they get hurt in preseason or season....nothing except their injury was in a game that meant something or it didnt...

J. Falcon 09-14-2009 03:29 PM

They will soon make it an 18 week regular season, with the Superbowl being played in the last week of February. Which means they may cut the preseason down to 2 games. This is almost definitely going to happen soon.

I have to disagree. A lot of teams look rusty early in the season and don't really hit their stride until the 3rd or 4th week. Other teams, however, never hit their stride. :(

baddog 09-14-2009 03:32 PM

Highly doubt it will happen.

WebairMetz 09-14-2009 04:01 PM

I think they will go to 18 games in the next few years. Payroll goes up too so the players will make more. Games will start first week of september :2 cents:

ToplistBlog_Com 09-14-2009 04:04 PM

18 games would be the perfect amount. One preseason game, that'd be better.

woj 09-14-2009 04:16 PM

I think it's fine as is, the more games they add the less interesting each will become... that's part of the reason why baseball sucks...
