theres a bunch of b&b's around king's cross and there are few as low as £30 per person per night, but dont expect them to be trendy :)

Hotels in London are not cheap ..not even the ones called 'cheap'. There is no middle ground in London. Either you are at an expensive but really good hotel or a crappy hotel. They haven't exploited the middle ground market and it going to bite us in the ass for the Olympics.

NEVER stay in an inner city London B&B at that sort of price..it *is* going to be a crappy place that you share with the recently not homeless.

If you don't care about fancy stuff, find a travelodge - http://www.travelodge.co.uk/ ..there are a couple in the Soho/Covent Garden area which are clean and safe and not expensive by London terms.

Hey man, how goes it?

So, London is all safe really - just don't walk around being a dick! There are worse places than others, but I stayed on Venice Beach by some crack heads and I survived LA. London is no worse than that!

Anyhoo, as suggested, trip advisor for london is your best bet. I would recommend the Charlotte Street Hotel. Bang in the middle, very nice, exclusive.

If you want more recommendations on what to do or where to go, just hit me up man. I lived there 10 years and now live about an hour away on the coast in Brighton.

Peas.

Theres a whole bunch of very cheap hotels in Earls Court.

You can pay as little as £25 to £30 per night off season. I cant remember the names unfortunately but if you ask around, theyre very close to the tube station.

I stayed in them a few times but on one occasion (without wanting to put you off) there was a cockroach about the size of a mouse under my bed. It kept me up the whole night because everytime i moved the bed, it would scramble back under it. So id move the bed back and it would scramble back under. This went on for a few hours - i must have moved the bed from wall to wall at least 30 times.

Eventually I gave up hunting the critter and the management agreed to move me into another room.
